ED drop off surcharges

Taking ED 2 May.

I've been a good boy and studied and read up on ED so as to make sure everything is covered in case my CA messes up.

I'm lucky to have drop off flex and had read info on the drop off locations.

All of a sudden I see an $800 drop off surcharge for vehicles left at non German drop off points.

Is this new for 2012? For Canadian buyers? None of the info I had read mentioned anything like this especially Paris as I had been planning to drop there from the outset.

Not new. Pricing is higher now, but anywhere in Italy circa 2010 was +$650 when we were planning ours. The cost was explained as the need to drive the vehicle to the port, so I chose to accomodate that myself

The extra cost isn't always mentioned on each drop-off location listing, so maybe you had a copy that didn't show the costs?

That's exactly right. I had read BMW literature given to the CAs. It showed everything but the surcharges.

Please tell me they don't drive the car to Bremerhaven.......... They out it on a train, right? Right? RIGHT,?!?

Just read how that came across. Not exactly what I meant. The extra cost was for the Italian drop-off site to return the car to Munich via an individual driving it there. I don't know how they deliver the cars from Munich to the port. I assume it is covered carrier at minimum, as my mileage was minimally increased. Didn't mean to alarm! ED was truly fantastic, in my experience. We had zero issues with the entire process, aside from the intense anticipation for redelivery Enjoy!

can anyone else confirm the charge for non-German drop off points? I know Italy always charged, but according to this, if we drop off at Nice, we will now be charged too..

You will be. My big question is whether or not this is just something aimed at Canadian customers. We have likely seen the same sheet with drop off locations. The latest one I saw had $800 surcharges at ALL non german drop off points.

Are Canadians the only one getting hosed or is this a "new program".

Bit of a piss off.

From what I've found online the surcharge is ONLY for Italian drop offs. Can anyone confirm? I'm thinking of dropping of in Austria.
