Officially Sick: M3 GTR 8:19 Ring Lap /w Hans Stuck driving and commenting
Check it out. BMW put it up.
In the video Hans Stuck drives the E46 M3 GTR which has our engine (4L V8) around the Nurburgring, so if we take a few hundred pounds off, we can do this! http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...0-536735670143

Wow I have that video saved on my old computer, but not with the Hans Stuck commentary. That is freaking great!
You do realize that this is the old E46 M3 GTR not the E92? This is also not the same configuration that the manufactures times are based on as it also utilizes a piece of the modern Grand Prix circuit. |

You can download it from the BMW site in different formats (with the commentary) in case you want to keep a copy...
Yes, I know it is the E46 chassis, but it does have the 4L V8. My understanding is that engine influenced the development of the S65, but I don't know the details. I noticed that it is not the curcuit that is being used by manufacturers these days, but I need to pull out a map to see which part of the GP curcuit was actually a part of this time run exactly. (And as a tribute, I'll turn on my PS2 and play F1 on the GP curcuit right now!)

May I add my thanks for posting this. It has been a while since I have seen it.
This video has been around for a while, but I love it none the less. It’s great that he added the commentary, as I had not seen this rendition. I believe that the engine was specific to the GTR ONLY , It was a sealed engine from BMW Motorsport none of the teams were allowed to open the engines and the engines were only leased to the teams that BMW Motorsport supported. Didn't Porche go to war and have the car disqualified from racing? Seems like I recall something like that. vz

Porche cried bit they did a similar stunt with their GT1, which also won a ton of races but was never really available for sale. Classic pot calling the kettle black.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Great video, but that is not "our" engine. It's a racing engine.

That was a joke. Production engines are not simply dropped into race cars like the GTR. See post #3. My understanding is that the GTR engine influenced the development of the S65 though.
