Off Lease is for the educated consumer with access to a local body shop to save big $$. If you plan on holding a car for several years/miles, the savings is 8-15k less than other prices. They also seem to do better on trade-ins, they gave me 6k more on a 2010 650i than the dealer, and the dealer's matching car way 8k higher. es the cards can have wear issues, but I have actually purchased 4 cars from them, rolled up many miles and never had any issues getting warranty service at dealer or even warranty cosmetic repairs, like a work iDrive controller. Again, research, inspect and then consider.

As one more data point I traded in my stripper 2011 e90 M3 to carmax for $40k in December and they listed it for $46k, but they still have it and have now dropped it to $44k.

The S4 feels "soft" and "cushy"(much better after lowered with OE HR springs)in comparison and make the mustangs feel even more "unrefined"-They did not feel that bad compared to the M3. The low end torque is great though for daily driving.i never tracked the M3 so I always felt I did not use the high revving M3 to its true potential and rarely saw the 8400 rpm redline.I plan on doing a stasis tune and may be a pulley swap if I keep it past the warranty. The exhaust note in dynamic mode is nice and I have no plans for an exhaust . I drove the M3 with Blizzacks through 4 winters and I always thought it did okay The S4 with winter tires is on a whole new level with all the snow and ice we have had this winter .Sometimes I feel like I should be wearing a red cape and can leap tall buildings but try not to get overconfident like all the crazy SUV drivers( I am sure they are on all seasons )that seem to end up In dItches |

I think a BMW dealer is going to get more for the same car rah. Car Max because Car Max plays the market...which is very different for BMWs and more so for Ms.
So far, the E9X platform has held up very well. I can't think of a single recall on mine. Haven't seem many on the E90. Unlike the E45 which had some issues. I think values will reflect that. |

How much would one expect to pay for a 2010 E92 M3 with 49k miles? Would being able to get an extended warranty for 6yrs/100k factor in the decision? I contacted the local BMW dealership and they said they never had any issues dealing with carmax warranties. So about $45k total with tax and warranty. What do ya'll think?

Some more added insight to dealer trades.
I have a 2013 335is coupe with less than 8K miles with on it with many nice options and no history. Looking to get a 2013 M3 coupe or vert. Somewhat of a shock to me to be offered $40K for a trade to an M3. And that was even before we talked price on the M3. What made it a bit more crazy was that they had nearly the same car as mine on their lot with 22K miles for sale at $55K . Still looking for the right 2013 M3. Not many new ones out there. But may end up keeping the 335is at this rate. |

As far as the price goes, it really depends on the warranty. You could probably find a 2010 e92 for about 39-40k private and add in about 4k for a warranty from BMW. Evens out to the same price. Plus, if it has all the options you want then its worth it. Especially with their warranty (plenty of posts on here that agree). |
