Just moved from E46 M3 to E92 M3 Coupe

Previous car was a fully loaded PY 2001 car, chassis #247! So sad to see it go, but at almost 11 years old it was time. I'd upgraded the nav to DVD, screen to widescreen, added an Intravee II iPod integration and kept it in the very best condition.

New car is a 2010 JB e92 with Fox Red interior & DCT. Absolutely loving it, but the current Goodyear tyres are pretty crappy, they want to let go at the slightest provocation. Any suggestions for replacements? I always used the ContiSport Contact M3 edition on the E46 and loved the grip and progression on them, along with great wet grip. How are the Conti Sport Contact 5's?

Also, Hi.

Not the old "which tyre debate" Ok I've used Conti sport and PS2's and prefer the Conti's. i think they're quieter and a tad cheaper. Some sware by the PS2's. It's up to you really, you won't go wrong with either.

Congrats on new purchase, Michelin Pilot Sport 2s are standard, Michelin Pilot Super Sports are the replacements and supposedly better.

I would have walked away from buying an m3 with non oem fit tyres.... But many wouldn't - two oem fits a the mich or conti, I run contis as I prefer them.

Why does it have Goodyear tires, do you know?

Congrats, you will be happy x another 10 years if you wish.

I guess the previous owner put them on. I've had F1 GSD3's(on a scooby, mind you) in the past and loved them, but these are asymetrics and they are terrible. The car has 24k on the clock so more than likely this is set #2, but I think I'll go the Conti route, but I'll also get a quote for PS2s at Costco. We'll see.

I had the 2001 for six of those ten years and I miss it every day, well, right now I miss the Intravee as it is way better than the dealer fit iPod interface and even the HDD music library.

Aye, all 3 are OEM. The GTS comes with Pirelli Super Corsa tyres exclusively.

Also, Hi.
As Deal said the tyre debate has been done to death several times - lots of info on the search function. Latest tyre from Michelin the PSS is getting rave reviews but very scare, especially the rears.

Rim protector is best on the Michelins.

Point to add - if you change tyres to Michelin or Contis and they still let go as you described above, you have something mechanically wrong with the car or the geometry is not to factory specification.

vredestein ultrac sessanta's are a very popular choice on this forum. I had them on my rx-8 and they are an awesome tyre at a very affordable price. i got mine from an online site called elite direct. i'll def be putting these tyres on once my ps2's are running low on tread.
