► APEX | 18" ARC-8 Track Wheels - 2015 Group Buy

** 18" ARC-8 Group Buy is now CLOSED. **

At last, the Group Buy you’ve all been waiting for! After numerous requests from forum members over the past year, we are now hosting a Group Buy for the 18” ARC-8 wheels. Last year we reached 154 participants, which was well over the level required to reach the maximum discount. All participants received the maximum discount. Let’s do it again!

We wanted to support a larger part of the BMW community so there are fitments for the E36, E36 M3, E46, E46 M3, Z3, Z4, E82 1M, E9X, E9X M3, and F3X. The Group Buy will be listed on multiple forums where we will be monitoring and updating all Group Buy threads: M3Forums, Bimmerforums, E46Fanatics, E90post, F30post, M3post, and Zpost, E89 Zpost. Spread the word, because the more members that sign up, the lower the price will be for everyone!

Important Dates:

Official Close Date & Last Day to Pay: Closed
Product Ship Date: Starts 2/12/15

Discount Tiers:
There is no minimum member requirement to receive the 1st tier discount of Free Shipping!

01-20 sets = Tier 1
21-40 sets = Tier 2
41-60 sets = Tier 3
61-80 sets = Tier 4
81-100 sets = Tier 5
101- ∞ sets = Tier 6

Sizes and Colors Available:
  • Wheels can be purchased in any combination (square or staggered) from the below list, while supplies last. Pricing below is per wheel, discount is per set.
  • No other sizes or combinations are available for this group buy.
  • All finishes are available: Anthracite, Hyper Black, Hyper Silver, and Satin Black.

Group Buy Details:

Free Shipping*
  • Free Shipping is available to members in the 48 mainland US states. Alaska, Hawaii, APO/FPO, and International members will receive a $75 credit off the actual cost of shipping.
  • Non-mainland, APO/APE/FPO please contact us prior to ordering for a shipping quote.
  • Free shipping applies to products in this group buy only, and does not cover over items purchased unless individually specified. Adding others parts to your order may result in a shipping fee. Non Group Buy parts will ship with your wheel order unless requested in the comment field at checkout.

Local Pickup Discount:
  • Local customers who pick up their set will receive a $35 discount on their order in lieu of free shipping. Local pickup discounts are provided at time of pickup as a refund, and are not provided in advance. You MUST write "local pickup" in the comment field at checkout so that we do not ship your order. We will call you when your set is ready to schedule a pickup from our Livermore 94550 warehouse.

When do these ship?:

CURRENT ETA: Orders will begin shipping out on February 12th, 2015 with almost all orders shipped by middle of March.
  • This is a Group Buy. Wheels do not ship the day after making payment like a traditional order.
  • Due to the high volume extra time will be needed to process orders.
  • Wheel orders should ship in the order that they were received.
  • We cannot guarantee an exact ETA date. Our estimates have historically been conservative and within +/- two weeks of our ETA date.
  • Because this Group Buy offers free shipping, we cannot provide expedited shipping in the event of a delay. Minor delays may occur, please allow for extra order processing time.
  • We will keep everyone up to date of even minor changes if they occur via this thread.
  • Tracking numbers will be provided to all buyers, and important progress updates will be posted on this forum, and on corresponding product pages.

Availability
  • Some sizes and finishes will sell out.
  • Availability is limited to supply on hand.
  • Orders will be fulfilled on a first-paid-first-fulfilled basis
  • Back orders may be accepted on a case by case basis. Customers will be notified and they can cancel their order if product is backordered or sold out.
  • No rain-checks. This discount is available for participants of this group buy.
  • We will try to stay up to date with sold out finishes/sizes by posting them here and on the forums, as well as on the website.
  • Within 48 hours of placing an order request, we will contact you if the wheels you have requested have been sold out. You will have the option to change to a different finish or fitment if you’d like, or you may cancel your order.

How do I join? Payments and Sign-up info
  • The Group Buy is now closed
  • Buyers are not officially part of the Group Buy until they've paid
  • Credit cards will be authorized only for the price listed at sign-up. Cards will be charge the final price after the close of the Group Buy and the member count is totaled. This automatically insures that everyone is billed for the lowest price, regardless of when they joined.
  • The Group Buy Dashboard will contain a list of members as they join. It is updated as they sign up within 24 hours and does not accurately represent the exact number of members at any given time.
  • If Aftermarket Performance Express Corp. elects to cancel the group buy due to low order volume or a production issue, ALL customers will be provided full refunds if their payment was already processed by either us or the dealer the order was place through.

Discount Tiers:

  • At the time of paying for your order, you will be authorized (similar to a deposit) for the full price of the product.
  • At the close of the Group Buy, we will total all participants to determine the final price charged.
  • Everyone's order/payment will be adjusted according to the highest discount tier reached
  • In the end, everyone pays the same low price.
  • There is zero advantage in signing up at the last minute.
  • Late sign-up only results in reduced participation momentum and the possibility of your desired finish or size being sold out.
  • Early sign-ups promote others to sign-up, and gives confidence to the stragglers. If you know you’re buying then pay early to keep the momentum going.

Refunds
  • There are NO refunds on Group Buy orders. Group Buys are special order, which is why payment is taken in advance
  • Only replacement of defective, or mis-shipped products are available.
  • Members cannot change colors or sizes after item receipt for Group Buy orders.
  • These products are priced at promotional pricing and do not carry that same return policy as our retail priced items. If you would like a traditional 30 Day return policy then we recommend purchasing at the retail price, and not via the Group Buy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wheel Details:
Manufacturing process:
All APEX wheels are flow-formed resulting in a lightweight, track and street worthy wheel. Flow-forming significantly reduces weight in the barrel by rolling the barrel out into it's final shape using large wheels/disks applying high pressure. This step is the same step that monoblock forged wheels go through to shape their barrels. By doing this, the flow-formed wheel's barrel has the same density and strength as the barrel of a fully forged wheel. This significantly reduces rotational mass at the furthest point from the center, which is the most important weight savings area on a wheel.
Strength:
These wheels are fully JWL/VIA certified. Strength testing was done by the VIA in Japan.
Misc.
  • Comes with either carbon-look APEX center caps or gloss black caps
  • Accepts OEM Roundel center caps
  • Does not come with valve stems
  • Installs using your factory lugs or a stud conversion.
  • BMW hub-centric - no centering rings
  • Accepts all wheel spacers including 5mm while still remaining hub-centric
  • TPMS compatible.
Not sure why these group buys are always one wheel style. It would make it a lot easier to reach the top tier discount if all three wheels were part of the group buy.
We currently produce 360 unique wheel sku's. Each with high minimum production counts. Our Group Buys have always been timed around production, otherwise it would be impossible to fulfill an unpredictable influx in orders across too many sku's. Right now select ARC-8 wheels are completing production, so the timing is right.
We've successfully hosted Group Buys dozens of times, and our last round of Group Buys had no difficulty reaching the maximum discount tier. Many members here can attest to participating in deals that exceeded the level needed to get the best deal.
Group Buys for other units requested in this thread are also dependent on their own production timing and availability. Although there is no current schedule for other deals, they will be posted when their timing is appropriate.
Thanks for your feedback,
-Eddy Pintacsi
Crap. I'll have to see what sizes I have at my shop. Nonetheless, I'm down for a set of 18's (9.5/10.5)(?) in matte black.
We've reached the next discount tier, now making way towards the last tier for the Group Buy. Here is the current status of the Group Buy's Feeler list:
Spread the word, let's make it to the maximum discount tier!
For a track setup, we usually recommend the 18x10" ET25 squared setup with 275/35/18. This is a direct bolt on set up with street tires, and some R-compounds such as the Nitto NT01 would work without the need of aftermarket suspension or camber plates if you plan to move on to those in the future. This is the top choice of all of our e9x M3 owners that purchases our wheels with the intent of track use while still being able to drive on the street regularly.
The square setup will be beneficial for track use due to its more neutralized feel. It will also allow you to rotate your tires to maximize their life span. Some owners don't feel the understeer of the E9x M3 and prefer to stick to the staggered setup to maintain the feel of the stock car and avoid any unwanted oversteer caused by a square setup.
If you are looking for a dedicated track setup and would like to go even wider, we can offer the 18x10.5" ET27 squared setup, but this will require you to have camber plates with at least -3.5 degrees of camber, and you would also need to have a small spacer in the front so that the wheels and tires clear your struts. The only time that the 18x10.5" ET27 squared setup is used on the e9x M3 chassis is usually for dedicated track cars or race cars, not for dual duty cars that sees a lot of street time.
Yes, both the 18x9.5" ET22 and 18x10" ET25 ARC-8's clear the StopTech 380mm ST-60 BBKs without any issues on the e9x M3.
Which particular kit are you referring to? With that information, we can check our data to see if it would be compatible with our 18" ARC-8's.
Unfortunately, the ARC-8's in 18" diameter do not clear the Alcon Superkit for the E90 M3. Only our EC-7 wheels do in the 18" diameter offerings that we have currently.
Payment period is now open, click here to join the Group Buy!
I wanted to include a couple clarifications for some questions other members still had.
Don’t worry about Online Backorders:
When joining our Group Buy, you may find that some wheels are listed as “Backordered” on our site. That’s a live feed of in-stock product and doesn’t show what products will be arriving soon. With the volume of units sold via a Group Buy, most everything is likely to display as “Backordered” eventually. Since Group Buy orders begin shipping only after the close date, our incoming shipments will allow us to fulfill even more orders. Many wheels are in stock and will ship within a few days of the Group Buy ending, but if your wheels are on one of the many incoming shipments, we will contact you with an ETA within one business day of joining. You’ll have the option to cancel if you don’t want to wait for your wheels to arrive.
Don’t wait for your goal to be reached before joining:
If your goal is to purchase only if you can be sure you’ll get a deep discount, then you’ll appreciate the new format of our Group Buys. Instead of waiting, you can now place your order with no risk of paying more than you want. Each discount tier has it’s own coupon code. Checkout now using one of those codes to commit your order to the highest price you’d be willing to pay. If we reach an even better discount tier, your order will be adjusted, and you’ll be charged less. If we don’t reach your discount, we’ll simply cancel your order. There is no need to wait and see what happens. You can lock in your savings now.
The Blue E92 M3 is running our ARC-8 wheels in 18x10" ET25 with 265/35/18 Michelin cup for the front and 18x10.5" with 295/35/18 Michelin cup for rear. Indeed, the Group Buy is now closed. The final total is now being tallied, and will be posted within 24 hours of the close date.
During this time, we will give "committed" members the chance to change their order to a lower tier. If most committed members change their order, we would have enough participants for everyone to receive the $175 discount.
We will also be adding final orders submitted by dealers, and international orders that were pending payment. The addition of these orders could still result in achieving the maximum discount. - See more at: http://www.apexraceparts.com/APEX-Gr.../#.VNu1X1PF9v4
