UPDATE
Installed the wheel via the JBE module since the PDF instructions wiring to the CAS didn't match up to my car. So far so good. The main thing I have compared to the others is that my battery is brand new. So far the wheel is working perfectly! |

Another issue...I have had 3 wheels installed.
1. Entire wheel screen was clear from normal sitting position and in the sun. The little screen was set flush into wheel. Problem was the plastic cover on the shift lights and LCD screen was cracking in several spots. 2. and 3. The lower portion of the LCD screen is not entirely visible, and sunlight makes the screen look fuzzy/distorted in a sense. Almost like there is a coating on the glass, and the lower portion of the screen has a fisheye effect. Are your screens completely clear and always visible?

i just went for a drive and everything is clear and visible. if you look really closely it looks like theres a slight haze behind the plastic cover on the center screen but it's really slight. other than that i could read it in the bright sun (lots of it here)
sorry to hear about all your issues. my only thing now is to get the water/oil temp reading to go into that screen when i start the car (haven't had the chance to read the operating manual yet) hmm, i'm about to head down into the garage and take a closer look to see...as far as i know it doesn't have the imperfections |

Now the temperature reading defaults to Celsius. Anybody have it stay on Fahrenheit? My old one did...

Yeah Mine had never had trouble keeping setting just losing the RPM's. I did re-do the basic set up procedure again , a page or so back on here, and that has seemed to remedy the issue for now. good luck

I also recently found out that the one in my car now is not the first one I've had. Apparently when the dealer installed it the first time, there was an issue that they ended up warrantying it and putting another one in. This was all before I ever took delivery of the car. |

This is also my second wheel due to the top of the wheel moved when you touched it.

Mine's been working since day one..., I wonder why yours is defaulting. I'm willing to bet it may be the battery? my comfort access wasn't really working and my car wouldn't stay in the digital MPH section in the cluster. After swapping out my battery at the dealership, everything is stable..CA works fine, and the digital MPH is always on when i start the car.

Okay....So i was able to reproduce the 0 RPM issue at the dealer and they hooked up the computer to it and since the wheel does not store any fault codes they did some diagnosing and they seem to feel that it is a communication error with one of the sensors that comes in the install kit with the wheel( i will try and get the part number). So they are ordering the part and are going to replace it and keep it over night and see if the problem is fixed. My SA and the Manager of the Service department said if this does not fix the issue they are going to contact BMWNA since this is the second wheel with the same problem (first one was warrant-ied for the top of the wheel MOVING!!!)... So we shall see if the issue is solved...
Sorry for the long post....

Perhaps (if it hasn't been concluded already), a DCT compatibility issue? I just got home and my settings have all been saved and my RPM shift points are the same as I've set them from day 1.
Hopefully you guys will figure out the solution soon, must be frustrating. Weird how BMW would make a product that wasn't tested in all the 3 series |

completely regret buying this V1 shit second hand
seller didnt send me the harness and control unit, then I made my own harness and adapted V2 control unit (since the one for V1 is discontinued!) then I started it up today now everything seems to work perfectly with exception to the shift lights. On start-up, the V1 goes through its initialization and the lights do work. However, I cannot get the lights to correspond to the correction factor setting. It appears as though the revs read by the V1 are out by a factor of ten. Thus, if the shift lights are set to 1000 RPM, and reved, it will only work when the RPM goes to 10 000. I need to find out how to do this on the V1. |

On DCT? As far as I know no one has been able to get it to work reliably with DCT. In addition to the shift light issue, oil and coolant temp readouts will freeze at a random value and never work until a battery reset occurs. If a battery reset does not occur and the issue is left for a prolonged period, the wheel can stop turning on altogether until a battery reset occurs.

Mine works 9 out of 10. Once in a while I have the frozen oil & water (at -48C). Wheel may not work at all sometimes, although very sporadically; It does the start up light choreography but it flashes red twice when trying to turn it on. Turning the ignition off for 15 or so minutes usually solves the problem. I've tried two wheels, three modules and three steering clocks.

If you are OK with it working 9 out of 10 times, then no, you can not safely conclude they don't work with DCT. |

another question, all the problems i've read seems to be related to V2, does this mean V1 works flawlessly? because i have a chance to grab a used V1 but not sure if it is worth the hassle
