yea, i get it. i think i'm just going to have to double up on the run groups with other coordinators. last march i went to laguna seca and did a double run group (i don't get up there too often). best decision i ever made. not cheap, but none of this is. it seemed like every time i turned around it was time to get back in the car and do some laps.

i talked to josh at bimmerfest and he was really excited about coordinating an event at laguna seca. i think november's event at acs is the beginning of him branching out to other surrounding tracks (i hope!).

I use Harry's Lap Timer for iOS and Android devices. The app works well and the lap times are pretty accurate. Not bad for $20.

Depends what you're looking for though. When I go out to the track, I'm not trying to break any records. I haven't felt the need to look for anything better.

I'm not sure what the exact cause is but I could speculate...

degrading seals, moisture contamination in fluid, heat induced degradation of the fluid, etc.

Regardless, the amount is small and when the level in the reservoir gets low I'll just add some.

Of course I say this just as I switched to SRF. The thought of opening up a liter of vintage unicorn tears just to top things off makes me sad...

I was looking into Harry Lap timer and seems worth it for the price. The AiM SoloDL On-Board Lap Timer seem too pricey for me and Im not here to break records but just to enjoy the potential of my M3.

I highly recommend it. All I wanted was something that could show my lap times and record video. If you get the "Petrolhead" edition for $20, it does all of that. Make sure you get the RAM mount too. The links below are what I have (iPhone).

Everything works really well.

I already have Harry's lap timer and agree it is good for laptimes. However, I want to take it the next step and get some datalogging abilities. There doesnt seem to be a middle ground between the entry Harry's laptimer and the aim solo dl (gold standard). May have to bite the bullet.

The other nice thing about Harry's is that you can slowly add functionality. Want better GPS data, add an external GPS device. Want ODB data, add a ODB adapter. BTW, I found out this last weekend that the Carly ODB adapter works with Harry's. It only gives you Throttle and RPM and seems like the update rate is pretty slow but if you already have it, might as well use it.

You can also get the AiM Solo (without the DL) if you want a fancy timer without the CAN BUS sensor data.
