I agree. I think the best choice would have been GS in my book for DH. Time will tell. I don't think the Rockets will be as good as the Heat were when then first combined forces.

Ha...Howard thinks he will win a championship in Houston. Umm not going to ever happen.

So glad he didn't resign with Lakers. It would have guaranteed Lakers downfall for years to come.

There's nothing really wrong with that statement, but have to consider who you're talking to. Oh and I for one think the DH/kobe relationship drama was overblown. They seemed to get along okay on the court....a decent working relationship I thought.
Nothing wrong with Kobe's statement, but he did sound like Obi-Wan Kenobi schooling a young Luke skywalker, and with an ego like D12 that did not go well.

Having Howard leave the Lakers will be even more guaranteed downfall. No more legitimate center is playing the 5 spot without Howard and no Bynum.

IMO, Howard needs to get his crap together. Usually someone who is deeply criticized like him will eventually win a title. Look at Lebron.

Earl Clark jumped ship as well... Over to Cleveland.

This coming season could be as painful as the Dodgers' season so far (though they are playing better at the moment).

I fully expect that he'll be back in November or early December at the latest (like he said).

I don't think any logical Lakers fan thinks they're in title contention this upcoming season. Idk about the rest of Laker nation, but I'm not extremely concerned with the result of the season. I'm just going to enjoy the last few seasons of my favorite athlete's career.

Let's remember that most fan bases can only DREAM of 5 championships in a single era. We were lucky.

Exactly. Nicely stated.

True.

But we're also greedy and won't settle for anything less.

As a Heats/Lebron fan this is probably the most respectful thing I have read from a Lakers fan about Kobe. Respect.

Haha I talk sports all day and the only way you can have a respected opinion is if you push aside your homerism and tell it how it is. I know there's some fools out there that always think the Lakers are going to win a title every year and that Kobe can never make a mistake. We know that's not true. A title isn not going to happen this year unless there's some sort of miracle. Maybe a David Stern retirement party miracle.

Yup, our franchise will always look to win titles. There really is no rebuilding in LA. (well at least for the team with 16 titles)

Rest assured, there won't be any Laker representatives at that party... Aside from a paper bag filled to the hilt with dog poop.

Lakers got lucky by Howard going to Houston. He is not the guy you want to be the centerpiece of your organization especially post-kobe. Kobe should sit this entire season and get some much needed rest. Tank this season get a lottery pick and hopefully get a chance to draft Andrew Wiggins. Or make a play to lebron or one of the other 2014 free agents. Without Howard in 2014 they will have a lot of money and a clean slate to usher in a new era of winning in laker land.

Lakers need to blow the team up and rebuild like Boston. Or blow the team up and keep Kobe only. That includes getting a new coach also.

Agreed! I would trade Gasol, Nash, and MWP for young talent and draft picks.

Yes but who is going to give up young talents for old and washed up players? Nets already did. lol

Defense wins championships. Lakers had no problems with scoring last year. They did have a problem giving up offensive boards, and fast breaks though.

We need some young, quick, long, defensively sound guys to back Kobe and Pau (if he stays). Nash is simply too slow, and old to keep up with a guy like Wall, Kyrie Irving, or even D-Williams. Bring in Nash as a reserve, but let's get a guy like Rondo or even Tony Allen who will defend and be on a guy like white on rice. We need young, hustle players, willing to go after the ball and defend.
