I was actually thinking of moving to a light and feelsome car, like the Cayman R or an older GT3 perhaps. The Vettes always drove bigger that they were, and I'm no longer interested in numbers. Still, the new one looks awfully good on paper and only a fool would not go for a test drive.

Going beyond numbers and feel, I still have to convince myself (and my wife lol) that I can get a 2 seater sports car, given how we share the transportation... But test it I will...

Having said that, no doubt this car will be spanking everything in terms of performance vs price though.
Looks like my M3 has a lot more plastic in it than the C7. I have stared quite a bit at interior pics and the video posted in this thread. Of the little plastic in the car, by the shifter. It looks to have a soft look, maybe a similar coating as the M3 plastics get?

I've never said that about any Corvette apart from the original Stingray. How fitting.

Well to me, it looks like hard plastic, like what our aluminum trims would look like. Like I said, it's not the end of the world, but it would have been nice to look at the interior and go wow. With the way that PS looked and the performance you are getting, I'll deal with it.

I will admit the interior is a big big improvement over the C6 though.

So here's a question for everyone. What would you pick? Used 997.1 Porsche 911 Turbo or new Corvette C7. I think they'd be about the same price.

After posting this it is interesting to see how many people had a similar reaction - not a Vette kind of guy but would seriously consider this. Regardless of whether the design is busy, the interior maybe not being as much as some hoped for, etc. Chevy looks poised to have a huge success in the making on their hands. A lot more people are going to wind up seriously shopping this car which will translate into much higher sales than the C6. Kudos to them (coming from a Ford guy...)

I haven't wanted a car this badly in a long time... since I bought my first M3. This might be next for me.

I'm an anti-GM person who heretofore would never consider buying an American car but I have to say this new Corvette is stunning.

I can't say I'd get one but I can say it is the first car by GM I would actually consider, and that's saying an awful lot. That car in black is one of the most attractive cars on the road.

always loved vettes, my dad is on his 6th with a '13 Z06 427 vert.

This really is gonna be a beast yet again for the price. The Z06 and ZR1 will be ungodly insane.

I do agree it is a bit busy and would look best in dark gray and black to help hide all the vents. The rear does seem a bit odd as well but damn, head turner and then some

I wonder what the z06 and zr1 have in store. Depending on what they get lll be between that or a used 991 when it comes time to trade in my z06

God this is gorgeous. I have NEVER wanted a vette before. But holy shit, they NAILED it this time. I don't care that it borrows (some may read as steal) from other designs. It all comes together in a gorgeous way. Don't like the look of the vents? Black seems to hide them well. But damn that blue......THAT BLUE.
So much want.

Agree completely. I will be hard pressed not to buy this car. My next car is 2 years away and the instant I saw this thing, my immediate response was "GOTTA HAVE IT". No other currently offered car has elicited this kind of response form me. And the value factor simply can not be ignored. Even at $70k for relatively loaded base Vette, it is an absolute bargain. Remember.... the current Z06, optioned out, hits close to $100k, and the new one is likely to be the same.

I think there are a lot of people who didn't buy the Vette due to certain design and interior quality issues, however, the C7 will change the game. Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati, etc, etc. will really have to think about what they have to offer over this car, especially when you get to Z06 and ZR1 trim.

Hell....I am having a hard time resisting the temptation to get down to my local dealer and put a deposit down now, even though I know they will likely go for $10k above retail. At $80k for the 3LT base car, it is STILL a bargain. I am going to hold out, however, for the Z06. When the time comes that I can get the Z06 at MSRP, that's when I will buy. It will also give me enough time with the M3 that I will feel I have gotten good use out of it, as well as a little time for the aftermarket to build up. And the aftermarket for the Vette is enormous!!

This is just all so good !! And to all the GTR fanboys out there......it is possible to make a car with creases and angles and have it look spectacular!!!

I think they should finally invest in a dual clutch tranny. I think it would help their sales and offer amazing performance, esp. with this new model. Same applies to the Viper.
