Not true. I just talked to a friend that bought his 335is 2nd hand and not from the dealer. He able to transfer BMW A over the phone without having to provide or fax any proof of ownership. The first call was from the within the car itself and the 2nd call was over the phone.

The best overlooked feature of this new 2.0 release is that you can do "Send to Vehicle" within the Google Local Search screen. Now you have two ways to send addresses to the car.

I'll take that over no remote horn or headlights any day of the week.

How did you get it to work? I had the old one from UK and it worked great. This one will not let me log in.

I used the same creds in the old UK version as new US version and it worked no problem. I did not have to call BMW A.

I got it to work right off the bat on my 2012...
Anti-climactic. No horn or flashing lights kills the excitement.

Just kidding. Wonder if I'll ever use this. Theoretically, it might be useful for me.

I do wish however, this app could show car alarm/locked status. It would be nice to think, hmm, hows the car doing right now? Locked and alarm on? check. or alarm has triggered....sms to phone.

I'm sure the BMW apps guys are working building this up.

FYI, it only locks and unlocks the doors. It does NOT turn on or off the alarm.

well i guess its depends on who you speak to... cause when i used my car they said i need the advisor to switch cause the original owner is still the owner in the system.... and of course advisor had no clue... so i called again they they said exactly what i said previously... proof... for security purposes yes i wouldnt change the name in the system cause i have a vin number and just cause ill tell them the car is mine...

doesnt make sense for them to just changed it without having to show proof... unless that person financed the car through BMW then it will show the new owner. but if you paid cash.... no way...

What are these original credentials? I had to call BMW Assist something like 5 times when I got the car to get them to actually set up my account. I never got a password.

I tried logging into the app using "My BMW" credentials, but of course that doesn't work, as others have noted.

I tried resetting my password on the BMW Assist website, but that doesn't work either. Doesn't recognize my email address as a valid username. I tried requesting my username, and it asked for a mobile number to validate, but it doesn't recognize my mobile number. Epic fail.

At this point, the app can wait until I have an extra 15 minutes to waste sitting in my car waiting for someone to give me a password.

Call them on the phone at 888-333-6118 and ask them for the password. I didn't even wait on hold earlier today.

Most definitely - locking and unlocking works great when I tried it today.

So the factory alarm goes off if you open the door after unlocking via the Remote app??

Did anyone notice the "precondition" tool in the demo? Curious if that feature is working for anyone.

Not sure. But the article says that the app only locks and unlocks the doors and does not turn on or off the alarm.

I just tried it, it does beep and flash as it unlocks and you can open the door. If you lock it with the app, it does not activate the alarm, as stated on the control screen on your iphone.

Can someone with a working US version of the app please provide the version ID? Mine is 2.0_r11590/11684 / 2.4.1. I'm not sure I have the right version on my iPhone, as I had the UK version, previously.

Odd...I replied to this earlier but it's gone...

Nonetheless, the door locking and unlocking now seem to work. I can't get the Google Maps integration to work (keep getting a data error on transmission) from the app but it works fine from a computer. Anybody else seeing this problem?

What should I try next?
