Agreed with Sean. Saying that you want some HREs, but will also consider VMR is like saying that you're in the market for a Ferrari, but will also consider a Toyota lol.

Srs, just get some VMRs and invest the rest of the money elsewhere. VMRs hold their value well so if you ever decide to sell, you won't lose very much.

riz this is what will happen if you get a wheel with an agressive m3 offset (0~+20ish)

and this is what happens when your offset is too high (+45~higher)

stretched tire for reference

(obviously these are very exaggerated to show riz the difference)

If you seriously want a top notch wheel like DPEs/HREs/BBS/ADV1/Volks, then you need to know exactly what it is you want and be prepared to spend $

It's like saying you want an Evo, but then might get a BMW if it's nice enough (i.e. nothing wrong with VMRs or Evo, but they're in a completely different price point than top notch wheels/BMW)
If i like the wheel enough i will save and get them, but if i get tired of waiting or get bored or whatever the case is i will prob get VMR's its just the back up plan.

id rather not spend money on VMRs if i was serious about getting HREs. Hence reason i went straight to Neez and rocked stock wheels for awhile. I knoew i would spend upwards of 6000k on wheels and i have no issue with that cause of the craftsmanship. no many wheels out there are as strong as these and i loved the fact Volk and Champion race wheels are forged in the same factory.

why would you not spend the money on VMR's, because the material they use to make them? or more then that?

i used to have a slight stretch on my 335i DPEs, 10in wheel with 255/35 TR1s

I like it a little but really hated it overall
only reason I kept it was cause those were the tires that came with them (got them used)
and i knew I was going to lemon eventually so I didn't change the tires out

you lose performance on a stretch tire

though many won't consider a 255 on a 10in a stretch lol

BMW puts 265 on a 10in (ZCP)

such a wide range of wheels here: multi piece, one piece, and lightweight one piece. what is your real goal... i'd use a multi-piece if i was more of a show car... VMRs for everyday to beat them the hell up... and lightweight one piece for track duties. but that's me.

If one knows for sure he is going to get something more expensive, than spending $ on something to hold one off until then is a waste of money

Make sense?

But I also agree it would look very poor on a car that's not lowered, aftermarket wheels do in general with stock suspension regardless of fitment tho
Didn't you buy some 7 series wheels (forget the model) for your car? Do you have them mounted yet? You will probably need a stretch to make those work.

I saw somebody with an e46 M3 who got them to work. They looked sweet.

They don't call those cars low and slow for nothing lol. 215's on 11's is crazy lol. I wouldn't pair something like that with Riz's high speed driving.

Riz, for someone that used to say you knew quite a great deal of info...I have not once seen you ever show it...Nothing wrong with asking questions, but from what I have personally noticed....you don't do your own research.......I may be wrong, but this is just an observation I've made.

personally... i don't know they are strong enough.

i prefer a one-piece forged wheel over anything. i'll always pick a monoblock over a multipiece wheel. the material to make the wheel is usually the same... it's the process of making and changing the actual material chemically or physically to make it a stronger alloy.

VMRs are fine wheels

But they are heavy.

They're meant to be an inexpensive option to changing from stock to aftermarket.

There is nothing wrong with VMRs are at all, it's just that if you plan on spending $$$ on wheels, then spending $1200 on VMRs only to sell them later for $800 is a poor financial decision.

the amount you drive... and not knowing an area you drive to... i'd probably go for a forged wheel... thick sidewalls in-case the occasional pot hole or shitty road comes up. less chance of cracking or bending.

So I take it you've never really ventured to read the threads in the Wheels and tires section?

You'll learn a lot. I mean, a LOT
