What about using these heads with the schrick cams and a proper tune on the stock motor? I understand supercharger is better for power and stroker would be the best but would this give enough breathing to tune the car to 9k rpms and keep making power up there? Is this a custom tune evolve or ess could manage?

Great to say and I trust your info. But I'm looking for specifics and actual numbers. I'm the type that thinks 750rwhp is a good daily driver. Last edited by Disturbed; 10-12-2014 at 10:39 AM.. |

I have a race built NA S65. The oem heads are cnc machined and flow perfectly fine unless you go above 8600 RPM or add displacement (i'm talking about NA of course). What's your goal, NA, FI or just a mild modification so i can help you better.
Mine is making 560 hp with extra 0.5 displacement and 8800 RPM with VANOS in place. A friend of mine has a destroked 3.6 that revs to 10,000 RPM and makes 590 hp. |

That's a dated article. Things ahave changed IMO. Strokers and SC can be done quite sucessfully IMO, even at stock compression. |

I am in the "homework" phase now and doing all I can to learn everything about this platform. The goal is "as much power, yet street driveable on 93oct". I have no doubts it will get a boosted ( not sure if TT or twin screw yet). I prefer runway, 1320 and roll-ons....but don't mind throwing the car in a corner. I prefer a good daily driver with rediculous amounts of power. I'm not opposed to w/M when boosted. Most people say head work is a waste if time. I disagree, yes it doesn't make huge gains but there is more Benifits to it: rpm, throttle response, sound and mpg's to name a few. Factory heads can ALWAYS be improved. |

From looking in the engine bay, it looks like you could get a 1" deckplate. By doing this you can do a 4.6 stroker and keep the 8600-9000rpm. That could pay off huge. The age old way to make power is still the best IMHOP. Boost, Displacement, head flow, rpm are the keys things to work on in any platform.

I was impressed when I saw that our heads are CNC ported from the factory. I think they could probably used on hand blending after the machining.
If anyone needs a set of stock heads. I have em. |

Factory/OEM Motor (Intentionally kept conservative to be reliable over the warranty) vs. Drag/Race Motor This is like comparing the OEM LS7 (good for ~575 WHP with a every bolt-on) vs. a Mast Motorsports Race Spec NA LS7 (700-800 WHP depending on fuel, No Spray)... Bottom line is the OEM S65 heads are fine until you heavily mod the motor, and even then there isn't a lot of evidence showing significant gains. In the OEM configuration, you're right up on the limit of the max/safe amount of air you can move. But if you look to built a kiiler, NA S65 it's def something worth exploring -- Along with ported TBs, Headers, Cams, etc.

Hopefully Disturbed's 750 rwhp pump gas project will provide some good info for the rest of us. I enjoy reading about these unlimited budget projects. The safe route would be to copy VT33 since he has done it. I think he spent around $35k.
