Exclamation DTM rennen at NorisRing in Nurnberg (Nürnberg), Germany…

Hi Guys,

This past weekend a friend of mine invited me to join his CarreraCup team at the DTM race at the NorisRing. This is a temporary street race track, meaning it is held on closed public roads. And not any roads in Nurnberg (Nürnberg) but the roads around the famous Nazi parade grounds of Zeppelin Field. Here are some photos from Google: ivnsm&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=7uYWTo_AB s7IswbQo7W1Dw&ved=0CDAQsAQ

The NorisRing is a short street circuit of just under 2.0 kilometers – still the CarreraCup car can see about 250 kph on the two straights. Not only did I get to see the CarerraCup cars, but also Formula 3, DTM, VW SciroccoCup, Seat CupraCup and R8 cup.

It’s been said that the NorisRing is to DTM what Monaco is to F1. I was really blown away by all the cool cars (both on and off the track!) and also how much money MB and Audi has put into the fan areas. It was really like going to an Automotive theme park for the day… that they also had a nice race to put on – on the side! It was a blast.

I really wonder what all BMW will bring to (table) MB – Audi camp/race next year. One thing is for sure… BMW has their work cut out! It was just incredible all the buildings and events the German car makers Audi and MB have put into this DTM race series. It was a very cool event!

As my friend told me… the DTM cars have only 50 Hp more than a CarreraCup car… but are like fifteen seconds faster per lap! And the DTM cars are almost as advanced as a modern day F1 car is.

Btw… my friend’s Cup car ended up winning the Cup race! Their 2nd win for the season. This weekend they will be in the UK at Silver Stone. It’s funny bc their faster driver qualified 5th, just 0.018 of a sec slower than the pole sitter! Looks like he really wanted to show the team what he could do!

Onto my photos…

One pole and one win! Not including this weekend’s race!

Carbon fiber doors… very light!

He guys in Weissach are multi talented!

The devil is in the details!

A famous German Porsche driver… I forgot his name. He also raced in the states. Porsche gave him one of these GT3RS!

Some of the other Carrera Cup teams…

What were they thinking!?!?

What were they thinking II…

Hazet Porsche tool box!

Now that VW owns Porsche SE… I think they have to by VAG trucks, ie Scania or MAN. Porsche use to only purchase/lease MB trucks before.

Some of the old grand stands from the Nazi times. Zeppelin field. The pit paddock was located on the other side of these stands.

Just your average rental car!

Walking towards the race track and fan shop area…

Scirocco Cup cars… running on erdgas LPG?

What a nice setup! This was just one side!!

Cheeky or tardy?

Not your average toy car…

Not cheap either!

Audi’s R18 – this is the very car that won last months 24h LeMans!

MB had this cool off road park…

Aral 102 octane fuels...

This Audi S4 had TWO fuel tanks. One with regular super fuel (95 octane from one of their competitors… and in the other fuel tank was Aral’s 102 Ultimate fuel. They had two cameras (one for each fuel quality) and you could actually see the carbon buildup on the regular super fuel. With Aral’s 102 octane fuel there was NO carbon buildup! Very interesting display!

Lots of carbon built up…

And with Aral’s fuel… no build up!

Dual fuel tanks…

Up there – where the “S” is on that blue sign is where Hitler gave all his speeches from…
