Removing inside C pillar trim???

Hey Guys,

I have a nasty rattle in my back seat. I rode in the back and narrowed it down to the C pillar. Its like one of the metal clips is just loose jingling inside the panel.

I do a lot of DIY, but wanted to ask you guys before I just started taking things a part. It worries me as there is a airbag behind this piece. I think.

Do I have to take off the side bolster of the seat? The whole rear deck? Or do I just use my pry tool and then pull the piece up and out.

Has anyone taken this piece off before?

Sorry I didn't catch this earlier!

The small ABS logo on the C pillar needs to pop out first, which you can remove carefully with a pry tool.

From there, there are three clips that point INWARD toward the sheet metal on the C pillar. Those are along the length of the C pillar trim. Then, there are three tabs that point DOWNWARD, facing the floor.

You pop the three inward facing clips out from the sheetmetal by pulling the trim toward the center of the car, and once those clips are free you pull the trim up toward the roof to release the lower tabs.

I hope that makes sense! If you have any questions you can give me a call and I can explain further.

I spent considerable time trying to locate rattling in the rear seat area, only to discover that the rear exhaust hangers and underside bumper shield mounts were loose. The resulting noise was transmitted up through the unibody frame. I only discovered the source when my trusty non dealer mechanic reviewed my local BMW dealer exhaust swap. $299 for batting clean up.

I have a rattle in the same spot on the driver's side. There's interior panel removal instructions on 3er Post that have pics if you need them.

There is a thread in the DIY section on how to remove the whole rear deck.
