Steering wheel vibration
Ok, I changed my tire set couple weeks ago from Stock Sizes(245-35-19, 265-35-19) PS2 to 255-35-19 275-35-19 PSS. After that, i feel vibration on my steering wheel when i drive over 65mph.
So, i went back to shop where installed my set, and asked them to rebalance the 2 times. However, i still having the same problem. They told me that they had checked my suspension, rims(if it is bent or not), balance, and everything it could caused the problem, but they cannot find anything wrong with my car... I have stock suspension, no spacers, but aftermarket rims(19 x 8.5 ET15 front 19 x 9.5 ET20 rear). Any idea?THanks

If you had no vibration before the tire change, you probably need them road force balanced and I'd take your car to another shop !

It's explained pretty well here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=40. Found using Google
![]() Were your aftermarket wheels on the car with your old tires, or are they new too? If they are new, what brand and style are they?

Ask the shop what machine they used
It'll help out in finding what the problem may be

Thanks for all your replies. I fixed my car. The problem was they put some kind of "Sandbag" in my rims when they were doing "Wheel Weight". The sand(metal sand) was moving back and forth while i was driving; this was the problem. So, i changed it to metal and its all gone.

I have a slight shimmy/vibration over 81mph on mine...I had it road force balanced using a Hunter GSP 9700, twice!
I'm thinking it may be the tires cause they are pretty beat up from track use..but it's still a PITA. Wonder what I can do??

Same issue here on my stock setup - had the wheels/tires road force balanced and still get the slight vibration over 75 or so. I was thinking along the same lines as you - my PS2s have seem some abuse on the track. At this point, I'm going to ignore the issue until I put new tires on and see if it goes away then.
This car seems especially sensitive to wheel/tire imbalances...

Try putting the PSI level right in between the recommended 2 passengers and 4 passengers plus luggage labels. You can find it in the back of your manual. I don't have my manual handy right now sorry can't post the numbers. I believe I have my fronts set to 39 PSI and rears at 44 PSI. |

Did anybody checked if the after market rims are hub centered? It could cause this same vibrations too.

I have the same problem. Vibration in the front over 80 mph. I haven't had them road force balanced. I don't beat the tires up on the track. My BBS are hubcentric and straight.
From what I understand, the design of the suspension is such that it is very sensitive to imbalances in the wheel/tire assembly. For most people, road force balancing seems to cure it.

I had this problem on mine for over a year. I had my front left changed (they said it was bent) still had vibrations. Road force balanced at multiple locations, still not fixed. Then I got a set of HRE's and a road force balance and it's butter smooth now!

Had a vibration with the Volks that started around 80MPH. Took off the front wheels & put the Advans on with no vibration. Stripped the weights off the Volks & took them in to have them rebalanced. Problem fixed.
If there are a lot of weights on a wheel, suggest to them they rotate the tire & rebalance. If you describe the problem, they should be smart enough to fix it.
