BIMMERPOST NEWSReport: BMW M3 CRT Already Sold Out Color us unsurprised. At the M Night last Thursday, BMW pulled the wraps off the M3 CRT (Carbon Racing Technology). As we reported, it's the most focused E90 M3 version yet, making use of innovative carbon fiber production technology. Powered by a 450hp 4.4L version of the award winning S65 V8 engine and exclusively painted in Frozen Polar Silver, production of the M3 CRT is limited to only 67 units. Well, it now appears that 67 people were willing to spend at least EUR 130,000 for this car. Autobild reports that the M3 CRT has supposedly already completely sold out, within 2-3 days of its unveil. BMW M3 special editions have a history of selling out very soon after their initial release. The recently announced US-market Frozen Black M3 sold out in just 22 minutes. The silver lining if you're now disappointed that you won't get one -- the M3 CRT's technology is a sign of things to come for future M3 models. See the M3 CRT announcement and our coverage from the M Night if you haven't yet. Share this story |

This was a great idea. A little on the expensive side but this model is cool.

I think only few of 67 have found their owner in real life. Cars have been bought by dealers that suppose someone to buy the machine later on. Of course few collectors may be active already, but I'm not surprised if some cars will be left over and sold out later on at standard price - with no rush of buyers. Remember Lambo Reventon that was "sold out" immediately but was still available everywhere at release price - and that was just 10 pieces. GTS was a different story as a real track machine, CRT is something else that cannot be compare to fully focused track weapon people go and buy instead of Porsche GT3RS. It's very expensive and doesn't justify the price like GTS IMO.

It's a tribute to German detail that they can sell that car for roughly ~200k USD. Amazing car, but I would have thought 100k Euros tops. Good for BMW.

more so than the chassis or the carbon fiber masturbation on various parts of the car, the engine is a collectible in this car.
