What to say?

My Boss's Boss schedules a meeting to ask about what I think of my boss. What should I convey?

What's your profession/job? I'd advise you to be truthful in your responses. Being straight forward is the best in most situations.

the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you god. IF he's a dick to you, shit talk him. chances are he's mouthing off twice as hard on you. But if he's good to you, dont bite the hand that feeds you. Keep it professional.

Good luck.

truth, bosses usually don't ask a question (of an employee) that they don't already have the answer for

Yes, compliment your boss on a strength he has, and give constructive criticism, a way your boss could do his job better. This shows that you are paying attention, you are interested in working better as a team etc.

Don't forget that your boss's boss probably had a hand in hiring him, don't tell the big man that he put an incompetent idiot in charge...even if it is true

Get ready for his retaliation. I laugh when they say "open door" policy. Subordinate = Scapegoat.

Yep... someone wrote something stupid in an Email or Social Networking site and got caught. Have fun! Hope it isn't you.

Try to make your boss look good, especially if he deserves it. If he's a douchebag, you can make that judgement call; but remember to keep professional.
