Did you check out the increase in "Price as new" section for each successive model??? The E46 M3 was 7500USD more than the previous model, but the E92 M3 will be 25000USD more than the E46. BMW is out of their mind if they think they'll have one quarter of the sales they had with the E46M if they price the E92 that high.

As we all know, car with basic msrp is almost never exist, unless you special order like Euro delivery for a plain jane car. Add those option packages (moonroof, leather seat, etc.) and it will be like $5k-$8k on top of the MSRP.

The E30 m3 maybe was the only M3 with which basic MSRP covers 99% of everything.

The basic MSRP usually increase by 2-5% every year.

I didn't see that at first, but the E92 price seems crazy. I live in Orange County so I'm sure I'll see the cars everywhere at any price, but at some point you have to think, what am I paying for?

The one thing you have to take into consideration is the E36 M3 which was a different car in the US than in Europe. BMW didnt think buyers would want to pay more than what they had for the E30 M3 and so the US E36 M3 got a torquey but reduced power I6 over the free revving I6 the rest of the world received. So pricing in Europe did go up significantly from E30 to E36 even though it didnt jump much at all in the US.

Not to mention the article is using base pricing for the E30 (35K), E36 (37K), and E46 (45K)but then uses 70K for the E92...get real. Maybe 70K fully loaded and out the door. If they wanted to use 70K then they should have set the E46K at 55k becase that is more realistic.

Well their estimated price for the e92 M3 is bs. I'd place my bet that the base price of the next e92 M3 is not over $60K.

The expected base price of the e92 as per BMW is 55k. That's about what a loaded e46 coupe would cost so you figure when you option out the e92 it'll come to about 62-63k which is pricey but not that drastic of an increase over the previous model.

Where did you get this information?

BMW is pricing the M3 at 50K UK pounds, which makes it about the same price as an RS4 in the UK. The RS4 in the US is base of 67, loaded at 70K USD. Now, don't get me wrong, I would love a base MSRP of 55 USD for the e92 M3, but I see all the evidence pointing towards a base of 65K and out the door of 70K. Also as I have said before, I believe BMW will almost completely miss the target audience for the M3 if it adopts this pricing strategy.

So they list the weight of the car at 3641 lbs. I am not sure how official that is, but I thought from earlier discussion based on European weight figures that it actually came in at around 3500 lbs (less than an E92 335i).

My favorite quote:

$25,600 (est.) more expensive than the E46 M3.
- 81 hp more powerful than the E46 M3.
- 161 lbs heavier than the E46 M3.

81 hp more + 162 lbs lighter =! 25k surcharge imo. Looking at it like this, I hope the e92 M does come in at a reasonable price, historically speaking.
