BMW Car Club of BC - 2011 Sea to Sky Drive
A new drive that the club planned this year is a trip up the Sea to Sky Highway. If you followed the 2010 Winter Olympics, you'd know that this is the road that links Vancouver (where most of the indoor events took place) with Whistler (where the main outdoor events happened).
In years past, it used to be a tight 2-lane road that was billed as one of the better drives in the region... albeit with brutal traffic due to the rise of Whistler as a world-class ski resort. In the lead-up to the Olympics, the road was widened into mostly 3-lanes, so unfortunately it's lost some of its twisty character. Still a great cruising route, though, especially if you've got a BMW Roadster, which many brought out (and for which I was envious). The end point for lunch was at a golf and country club near Pemberton, which is another 35km north of Whistler. Part 1: Meetup in a Chevron station in West Vancouver, just off the highway. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Part 2: A quick stop in Squamish, about halfway up the Sea to Sky. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Part 3: Lunch stop and the end of the drive. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Finally, here's the GoPro Bumper Cam.... Sorry for the crooked-ness, but I spent too much time talking and taking pictures at the meet-up that I was in a hurry to get it mounted :-( Last edited by Veritable; 06-15-2011 at 04:02 PM. |
