Driveway issue? (ZCP on order)

I have a new M3 E90 ZCP that is on order. It just finished up production, so hopefully should be here in 2 or 3 weeks. The waiting is driving me crazy...

Anyhow, while waiting, I have started to get nervous about whether I am going to have a scraping problem with my stupidly steep driveway. The attached pic shows it from four different angles. As you will see, its a really steep, weird driveway that is banked to the right. The good news is that while it is steep (about 20 degrees at the steepest point), the angle increases fairly smoothly.

First off, it goes without saying that the M3 will be taking the spot in the garage where the minivan is now, so that I can use the less steep side of the driveway. My plan of action is to approach from the left hand side side of the street (when looking at the head-on image in the upper left) at a 45 degree or more angle, and getting the left wheel up on the curb to raise up the front. Then I plan to gently swing the right wheel on the curb, while keeping the car to left side of the driveway as much as possible, as it is the least steep.

What I am most worried about is the transition from the less-inclined sidewalk part to the to the more-inclined driveway part (particularly in the middle). I plan on creeping along and putting the car in sport EDC mode, but I just am getting nervious that it might simply be too steep for the low front. I would think that backing in would be worse, as all the weight would shift towards the front, already the lowest part of the car.

Any thoughts on whether this is achievable or whether I am screwed? Alternatively, any thoughts on better approach angles to make this work? If it just is not possible with the stock ZCP, anyone know of way to raise up the ride height by 10mm to return to the non-ZCP height?

Thanks!

Not that it's particularly easy to tell but I think you'd be fine. It's only a 10mm drop.

Can you get your driveway regraded to a more gentle angle?

Looking at the picture, it doesn't appear to be an issue at all. You should be fine.

I have just gone from a non-ZCP '08 E92/M3 to a ZCP '11 E92/M3 and have not noticed any difference with the scraping. I can tell you that it makes a difference if you drive very slowly when approaching the incline and, as you say, set the EDC on Sport and approach the incline at an angle. I have noticed that all three of these things work when I drive into my bank parking lot which has a steep incline at the entrance - and where I scraped once early on. That said, it's hard to tell from the pics. Good luck.

It looks to me like the ZCP is going to SCRAPE no matter what you do. The dip, where it meets the asphalt is going to be the problem.

I don’t know, can you rig some sort of plywood thing?

I already had my M3 and just bought a new house. And the first thing I did was check the driveway ha. I literally walked away from homes without looking because the driveway was not gonna work out. Yours looks pretty steeeeeeeep. Good luck!

I have a similar situation...and a front lip. The only times I've ever scraped, is when I was distracted and not paying attention.
Go slow...take it at an angle...you should be fine.

I'd approach the driveway 45 degrees, starting in the lower right corner. Should be OK, but definitely not straight on.

My house is similar but if you go slowly and sideways it will not be a problem at all. Actualy, it might be a bit steeper. It might have scaped a few times. But even on normal EDC if you take it slow you won't have a problem. Also, don't worry THAT much about an occasional scrape since what scrapes is the bottom black foam thing

What exactly does EDC setting have anything to do with this? It doesn't raise/lower the car...

the manual recommends sport for steep driveways and speed bumps... maybe so the suspension doesn't "flex" as much when the wheel first makes contact with the incline?
