2012 GTR or 2012 M3???
As the Title States, I will soon be in the Market for a new car, as of now I drive a fully Loaded 335i, I have always wanted an M, but the temptation for the GTR is too great and I'm heavily leaning towards it, My conceren is that I do not know much about the GTR, but I am currently doing alot of research. Wanted to get some opinions from M3 driver's who might have gone through this similar situation, Why would you take the M3 over a GTR?

To me the M3 and GTR are two different cars in two different categories. M3 is more of a touring sports car while the GTR is an actual sports car. Not to mention the huge price difference. If money were not an option I think you would see a lot more GTR's being sold though. But its just to expensive.. But you get what you pay for, it will beat the M3 in every track type category. But honestly a car that starts at $55k vs one at $90k. That's a huge difference. You should be comparing the GTR to a 911 IMO if you have that kind of money. Don't get me wrong the M3 is a great car, but i'd take the GTR if money were not an option.

GT-R
It's just so rare. With the much higher price of the GT-R and the awesome warranty on the M3 I just couldn't justify it for myself - but if you have the money then DO IT! |

Go For the new 2012 GTR if you can afford it. It has been significantly improved in many areas over the previous years. And as others have stated before, it's a different category, as compared to the M. The GTR does not ride as smooth, and some owners do not feel it's a good daily, as opposed to the M. For me, it would be my next choice in "stepping up" from the M. On a side note, I saw a Matte Black 2012 GTR this past weekend, that the thing looked like the damn Batmobile, I could not stop staring at it. It makes me want to wrap my AW M.
I say test drive both, and make sure you know what your getting yourself into. You can never go wrong with an M, but the GTR takes the "sport" to a new level. |

GTR is more of a competition with the Porsche 911 Turbo.
Brute force for GTR - weekend car Handling for M3 - daily drive car Here is an small article about the GTR's superior AWD tech http://www.autoevolution.com/news/ni...ned-35006.html |

agreed. I think a lot of people get the GT-R without preparing themselves for its compromises. I'd be willing to bet that there are more GT-R's put up for sale within the first 18 months than most any other car. it's an amazing machine but has its costs. |

I was on the 73 going North. The GTR was behind me getting from Newport. He could be in Laguna. I have not seen many Matte Black GTRs, looked so sick. He even had the rear tail-lights tinted, but only the red outer circles, so the white lens with red LED's were visible. Also had what looked like a HKS Ti exhaust and Stock wheels painted black. Tastefully modded.

Exactly my point!! M3 --> equally equipped GTR would be close to 35K increase.

not really a gtr is 90k and it comes with most of the options you need...M3 is 74k with about the same options...

GTR, all day, any day. That thing is a true beast, and really should be tracked at every chance possible.
And at $30K more than an M3, I'm not sure if they should even be compared to one another. It would be like comparing a 128i to an M3 coupe. If you can afford the M3 (i.e. GTR) and understand it's a wild horse, just do it. |

I would get the apple since an orange is a pain in the ass to peel and is just more messy.
Also the orange does not come with a 6MT option and costs a lot more to maintain. |
