I think i'll have to buy it, so far it's been one of the better info things i've watched. Not sure i'll have time to watch it all tomorrow or sunday, so very worth it in my opinion.

The auto focus on the 7D blows the 5DII out of the water, i've experienced what they were talking about with the 5D searching for a focus point a few times. It is anoying (i don't know if you were watching that segment or not) but it's not a make or break situation for me as it's what i learned on, so i know how to cope with it.

However, if i had the 7D first, i would find the 5D autofocus a killer.

The 7D takes a sharper image at 100% crop when at low ISO levels, but if you want still fairly sharp at high ISO, then the 5DII holds it's sharpness much better in higher ISOs

If you're shooting indoors lots, I might recommend the 5DII over the 7D just because of the ISO handling.

if you're doing mostly sporting, go with the 7D

I can only hope they will give the 5DIII the AF out of the 7D or 1D. I don't plan on using either for video, so I am keeping that out of the equation. Just going to use it for theater,landscapes and jet planes. Buying both is just not going to happen.

I picked up the 7D mainly because i was trying to do a lot of sport application with the 5DII and the auto focus just wasn't where i wanted it to be, but i learned tricks to avoid the problems, if the sports i was taking pictures of didn't have a predefined course, that might have been a different problem altogether as i was prefocusing before the subject reached it's mark. I also wanted it for the missed opportunities being recovered by the fast frames persecond, so if my timing was too early or too late, i had 2x as many shots to get the right one in rather then coming up with no shots at all.

but a good chunk of the time i ended up using the 5D anyhow because i had gotten so used to the trigger weight and the full frame with the lenses i already have.

so if i've been taking pictures of birds or stuff like that, i've been using the 7D mostly because of it's focus and the clarity and reach since i have so much more light to work with.

but walking around disney and such, i would use the 5D just because of the full frame sensor, and when going in buildings i had the better ISO handling.

They are both great cameras, the 7D addresses short commings of the 5DII.

I find the 7D doesn't handle changes in white balance as well, they tend to look a little off compared to the near perfect white balance on the 5D

it's a bitch adjusting from APS-C sensor to full frame when you're using the same lens on each camera... you get used to one focal length, and then it changes so much when you switch body.

I do like the natural vignetting that occurs with the 5DII and the extra DOF the full frame sensor allows you the use of.

Dcstep shoots both the 5DII and 7D as well, so if you go on his flickr, you can kind of compare and contrast the pictures he's taken, and if he reads this he may have some input too.

i bought it mostly because he's covering so many subjects that at some point i'm going to get maxed out for what i retain.

and i'd still like to have a weekend where i can choose to do things since this will be the first sunny weekend in about 2 weeks.... it's rained almost every day.... I'm going stir crazy!!!

sounds good, I think i'll learn more off of the stuff tomorrow and sunday, most of this stuff today is review, but it's nice to have the review and re-enforce previous learnings.

haha, me, usually...

I put a lot of time into my lens choices.

I still make mistakes though, but that's why i keep a close eye on the return policy.

and when i buy one, i make sure i go out shooting right away, or asap, and take a few hundred shots if time permits.

that's how i decided against the 17-40mm F4L

the comparisons he's showing are nice, because it's hard to sometimes find those direct comparisons on the internet.

yeah, this is really cool see, I never put that much thought into lens selection....

makes so much sense though, I have a female model friend who is 6'1 and i was going to get her to help me get experience shooting, and it's making me think i should be using telephotos to shrink her down a little.

It also depends on the perspective and the background too... the 135 f/2 is looking real nice now though.

yeah, he's making me want the 7-200 2.8, which i have the F4, and it's an incredible lens.... but it just isn't a 2.8

yeah, i've been wanting to test out the 135 F2 for a little while. would be amaizing for some of the sport stuff i've been doing. especially with low light indoor.
