Love it. Weird place for the R badge though.

XF facelift: I like it. Sometimes the best designs are simple and while it might not have the same surface detail as the 5 series it just works. Now I can't imagine the headlights being any different. They should have been like this from day one. Just think where Jag came from (X-type and S-type).

XF-R facelift: Front intakes are so random lol. The car also has other details like chrome and vents that I wouldn't like if it was a BMW but again it just works. I think it will stand out well next to the M5 and E63. Now we just need to see the new RS6.

Edit: Oh yeah and the R badge needs to come off and I'm still not a fan of the wheels. I think the reason why this car looks good is because the whole thing is a unique design. The 5 series, A6 etc are similar to other models and you can't just stick crazy bumpers on them because it wouldn't fit in with the rest of the design.

Good summary. I really hate the front bumper on the R. Badge is pointlessly offset.

I think the hood could lose that central raised section, or at least tone it down. Also wish they shaped the central intake better than the really basic geometric shape they have going on in the regular XF.

They could've toned down the squint on the headlights too. Seems like it's trying a bit too hard. Great improvements overall regardless. Definitely improved the tail lend of the car.

If it wasn't for the subpar interior and the poorly done front bumper, that R would be a hit^

The interior is actually extremely well made and the leather capped dash and door capping, plus the alcantara roof cloth all add to the air of luxury beyond what Audi, BMW and Mercedes offer at this level. I can't disagree that some of the switchgear feels a little subpar to either of these but it is only slight.

Footie, where did you get those pictures? That looks really good in black. It's not the XF-R though I'm sure. It looks like some R package like an M-sport. It has no hood vents or quad exhausts. Go back a page you'll see the pics I posted.

I take it you liked those pics.

They came from an insider and yes I believe they are showing some visual enhancements.

Plus points:

* 8sp ZF on all diesel which will benefit both instant acceleration during overtaking and acceleration in general along with mpg. Just shows how behind dealers are because they were told the gearbox wasn't changing.

* New seat design as far as I am aware, plus new range of colours on Portfolio model.

* 1200w B&W stereo option, this is believe to be incredible by all accounts. Better quality than anything the Germans are offering.

P.S.
The only real negative I see is that they've upped the price by nearly 10% since I bought me in 2009.

It looks really angry. I dont think BMW will update this classic with an F10 and XF anytime soon.

The rear lights have been changed too. Look at the bottom part, it now stretches on to the bootlid more. Apart from that it's mostly the front end (headlights, bumper)
