220M square set-up

Anybody tried to use all 4 rear 220M wheels with a stock suspension set-up running 265/35/19?
I assume it would fit better since the 19x10 359s are really too big up front with the 25offset.
If any of you have pics, please share them with me

Subscribed as I am looking to do the same with stock 18's (219M). I am also interested in the optimal tire size. I am thinking 275/35 18 Pilot Super Sports are probably the best option.

Ive seen a few people getting square set ups on different cars. What is the benefits and side effects of doing this?

you get rid of a lot of the push these cars have at low speeds.

265/35-19 will rub in front at sharp angles. Need to keep the OD at 26" or less.

Will offset play in this rub?
I guess its rubbing on the liner yes?

Yes, it rubs the liner. I tried my rear ZCP wheels on front. Based on that result, my guess, neither offset nor camber will clear it.

so the problem lies in the overall diameter...nothing to do with whether its a 220 or 359 wheel...

I had the OEM tires on, didn't feel any rubbing (no passangers)

Above posters have different experience than me.. I only had them on for a test fit.. didn't put on any miles.

Bart, I think the variance we are seeing here may be due to different suspension heights.
For example, if you have a stock (non ZCP) setup and buy 4 19x10 ZCP wheels and 265/35/19 tires, there is a good chance that it would fit right.
But doing the same thing to the front of a ZCp car may result in rubbing of the liner...

Unless you change to lower profile tires, you will rub the liner. I wore two holes in my first e90 doing this. On the other hand, the car was fabulously balanced with a square set-up.

How come we cannot seem to get an agreement from so many who have tried to run the rears in the front...seems to work for some and not for others...I woul think that if it does not work...then it should not work for everybody...not just some.

I looked at a lot of posts after my experience, and really saw very little inconsistency. The rear 19” wheels, with the OE 265/35 tires can be run up front. And, under most driving conditions you will probably not feel any rubbing. But, at a near maximum turn, it will rub. I remember one response that said something like, “No problem with rubbing. After some mileage, I had worn a couple of holes in the fender liners, and then everything was fine.” Guess it sometimes depends on your interpretation.

Do you mind sharing which part of the liner is rubbing on the tire? Does it rub the liner on both left and right turns and how far to lock does it start rubbing?
A 265/35/19 has a OD of 26.3". That is 0.3" divided by 2 which is 0.15" on each side of the wheel (Top and Bottom)...seems like if the tire wears out alittle, the fit would be ok.

Granted that different brand/model of tires have a slight variation for a given size...maybe some will rub and some won't. Or if the tire is not new while test fitted up front...this may explain why for some it works, and others it becomes a problem.

Possibly, but I am sure the ZCP rear wheel/tire will not work on the front of any ZCP M3 without rubbing. My tires were worn to the wear bars when I tried it, and it wasn’t even close, since in a static setting there is no suspension compression. I think the more likely explanation is, a little rubbing with significant turning input is, to some folks, no rubbing of concern.

We have done 359m fronts with 265/35 and it didn't have any clearance issue in our experiences. A 275/35 should fit as well. If you are slammed, it might be a tight fit.

The square setup is cosmetically a huge improvement and the handling improvement is well worth it.

OK, so you used the 19x9 front wheel but ran a 265/35/19 tire with no issues on a stock ZCP suspension?

No. 19x10 359M rear wheel with 265-35 PS2 tires.

I have a ZCP coupe and am running a square setup with 220's on the track. My first setup using 265/35 PS2's on the front caused rubbing on the rear part of the driver side wheel well liner at full lock (passenger side was fine). Didn't shred the tire in the two sessions that I used it like that, but did wear the liner. I have been running 275/30 AD08's (25.5" diameter) all around with good luck since then though.
