how does the fit and finish compare to the m3 for daily use?

It's really the same with any manufacturer. If you up the boost with a tune or add power adders it will void the drive-train warranty. The GT-R got a bad rap when they first came out because in order to get those incredible 0-60mph times (3.2 seconds I believe) you had to turn traction control off and if the DCT broke during the launch then Nissan would not repair the transmission under warranty. The 2012 GT-R does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds with traction control on, so it is covered under warranty.

The DCT in a supercharged M3 does not work well at the drag strip. I ran a 10 with no burn-out, so I'm happy with the time.

I would rather have a supercharged M3 as a daily driver. The GT-R is like a street legal race car and it gets a lot of attention. It's a rougher ride and "some" of the materials used are not as good as BMW. I drive a company vehicle durning the week, so the GT-R is perfect for me.

It's as good as it should be. The 2012 GT-R had a Nurburging time of 7:24.

AFAIK every LC is under warranty - except for the original 2009 LC1.

A free software update converts 2009 LC1 cars to LC2 cars, so everyone's launch control is under warranty.

Whats the deal w/ traction control?

Can you turn it off wherever and whenever? Does it void your warranty?

No F'ing idea...

You're only allowed to use it to 'get out if you're stuck' - and it's supposedly logged when/how/duration you use it.

Why in the world would you be required to use it... I have no idea.

In R mode, you can still oversteer like mad (allows a good bit of wheel spin).

If I didn't care about poking nissan in the eye, I'd have TC off all the time.

Maybe they don't want people drifting the shit out of the car.

Maybe they don't want legal issues from people [who can't drive to save their lives] suing for selling 'dangerous' vehicles after they end up ass first in a ditch.

I should add : cold morning, cold tires, cold air...
You will spin wheels short of full power.
And if you push it in a turn, you'll spin the car well before full power.

It's a given that not everyone will enforce this clause, but it's still an 'out' for nissan should a big warranty repair bill show up.

Real life is not the same. It depends on dealer. Lots of ass dealers would hold you onto this for sire.
I have owned my GTR 2 years, about 15 track days with VDC off and about 20 1/4 mile passes with VDC off plus LC. I don't find that a problem so far. My dealer never mentioned anything about that to me.

Nissan has definitely built one fast car considering it is straight from the factory. Those are amazing 1/4 mile times for a stock car... geez That said, I'd take the Corvette ZR1 but that GT-R is definitely a beast!

My colleague took our new GT-r to Nurnburgring to do a proper run in, i think he succeeded, 33 laps around the ring and 8 laps around the F1 track.
I will be fun to give the dealer a call and order a 2000km service and a new set of tires

Speaking of 10s...

I piloted the first 2012 GT-R into the 10s this past weekend!

The only mods at this point: HKS resonated midpipe and Legamax exhaust.

First pass was a 10.98 @ 123 mph
Second pass you can hear it chirping the tires just a little at take off and it went 11.00 @ 123 mph.
