Seriously, 10 minutes? All the posts I've read says it's quite a struggle to unclip the OEM ones. Any tips before I attempt this project?

I went with **********s.com. Great price and shipping was cheap. I also got the matte black side gills from them too. Everything fit perfectly and looks great.

It's actually pretty easy, we can have a set swapped in about 5 min.

Fender gills on a e90 sedan - that's another story

Thanks Tom. I'm pretty confident that I can do the front grills without any issues. 5 minutes for you guys, probably more like 50 minutes for modding fools like me.

However, not looking forward to attempting my fender gills, especially after reading everyone's problematic experiences!

I was looking for matte black grills too. I guess they're not as common as glossy ones. Anyhow I ordered them from JleviSW yesterday, thanks to this thread. I also ordered the matte black side grills. This is for AW. I really hate chrome

Just installed my matte black grills! Looks awesome. IND by the way, superb fitment.

However, I am having a problem putting back the right-most torx screw. The screw doesn't engage, and there is some significant "bounce" to the housing that it's supposed to go in. Any TIPS????? Help!

Why Matte black over gloss black for AW M3?

Did you check that the hole lines up before inserting the torx screw? It could be possible you accidentally dropped one of the clips that the torx screw would screw into.

Thanks for the help. I've found out that the housing is a removable springy clip. I pulled the clip off, and rebent the receiving end so that it's more perpendicular to the screw pathway. Went in no problems after that. Phew!

autotecknic actually have the best fitment of all the aftermarket grilles out there.

my buddy decided to be cheap and bought some generic ones (thinking that they are all the same) and they look nothing like the OEM or the autotecknic grille. the center slats are much thicker and the matte finish/ fitment isn't great either. he ended up returning it and bought it from the same shop i got it from (rennspec)

good thing that gary at rennspec explained the difference to me or else i'd be like the few people here on the forum thinking that all the aftermarket grilles are the same.

I got my set from Turner Motorsports along with side gills. The dealer installed mine for free before i picked her up. So far no issues or wear problems.

Who all carries the gloss black kidney grills? Are the fender grills available in gloss black as well? I like the look of matte better but i'm not sure if it would clash with the gloss black part of the side view mirrors and window trim. I figured I would match them up with those.
