Hello Bimmerpost!

Good Evening.
New member here.

After months and months of debating and deciding, I finally pulled the trigger.

I spoke with a few dealers, but nothing really seemed like a good deal, nor did I appreciate their attitude.

One day I was with friends eating dinner, and he happened to know someone at the dealer. It was about 9:15 PM on a Tuesday night already, but he said we can stop by to check out what they had to offer me. Around 11:55PM, we closed the deal. Thumbs up to my dealer. Very informative and was a gentleman with respect. It might have helped that my friend I went with knew the guy.

I wanted a super sedan and this seemed like the last of its kind.

I couldn't resist.

2011.75 Jet Black E90 Sedan 6MT, Black Int., Carbon Leather Trim, Convenience, Premium 2, Cold Weather, Competition, 6NR, Enhanced Premium Sound, Moon roof, pretty much fully loaded.

It's only been two days and I'm getting impatient already..

Is there a more accurate way of tracking your build besides the tracker on the BMWNA website?

Anyway, just wanted to say Hi.

Welcome! The best place to get a tint in Socal is STM for their Huper Optik work. As for car washes, where exactly are you? I like Checkered Flag in Irvine and Red Carpet in Manhattan Beach for basic service, as long as you specify a hand wash. If you want something better, you should get a detailing job from the likes of Erik aka Eclipsis on the forums.

I'm in downtown LA.

Is Huper Optik better than 3M? In what ways?

What exactly do you mean by handwash? Do they still wipe it dry with towels?
(Big no no if you ask me)
since it's gonna be jet black, I need to try to avoid swirls at all costs.

I might need to find a place for a new car detail. I'm also interest in a clear bra. Premiere protective film's jobs looked pretty decent. Any reviews on them?

Welcome from an e90 Brotha!

Plannin to follow the break-in? Might as well get it out of the way now. Look that car over with a magnifying glass when it arrives! Don't take delivery unless it passes your standards. Easier to raise issues before it becomes your car. Rather than after when the dealer all of the sudden doesn't give a shit.

Oh, and have patience. 2-3 weeks for build confirmation number, 1-2 weeks to build, 1 week at port awaiting ship, 2 weeks at sea, 1-2 weeks at arriving port and PDC, lastly another few days at your dealer getting prepped and checked out by a special M mechanic( or something like that, if I recall correctly).

The BMW Website Tracker is about two (2) days behind their phone system, which is probably about two (2) days behind the factory in Germany.

Why do people put those bra things on their cars? They look hideous and leave a mess when you want them removed. A bonnet respray isn't expensive if you have a couple of stonechips - and the car looks hot *without* those bra thingies.

Am I missing something?

Production started today for me. It took 26 total days since order was completed, but who's counting.

Depends quality of install and materials.

I know in other countries resprays are more popular.
