Here you go!

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t...indicator.html

I also have a few videos of it inaction on my M3 from today. Will post after I get them off of the phone.

BMW efficient dynamics is absolutely amazing. I tried tricking it in a number of different ways, but it's very precise. The 6 speed cars do not know what gear you are currently in. The only thing it knows is if the gear shifter is in neutral, or if it is in a gear (all gears give the same reading to the ECU), and obviously if the clutch/brake is engaged or not. So basically it calculates what gear you are in (and thus what gear you should go to) based on the driving speed and rpm compared with your throttle position (and whether the clutch or brake is engaged). It probably also takes into account yaw and some other factors. It does a very good job of determining what gear you should go to depending on the throttle input, and will even tell you to skip gears, or downshift if necessary. It's also instantaneous. I love it and it's made a big difference for me.

Does it present this information via the iDrive screen?

It shows it in the instrument cluster. You don't want to take your eyes off the road to see what gear to go to, so they put it in the cluster alone.

If I have passengers in the back of the M3, they'd have to lean toward the center and watch video that way, and I'd have to listen to it. Sorry, I still don't get the appeal.

It makes sense to have separate screens for rear passengers in a Lexus RX. In the M3, televisions in the headrests would be overkill IMHO (..it's a coupe for God's sake). From the rear seat position, one can easily see the iDrive screen without leaning towards the center.

It's personal preference!

Another thing just added: Change the sensitivity of your adaptive xenons from slower --> normal --> sensitive.

I just tried it in my garage and it makes a big difference on how the headlights turn. I will try to post a video up of it in action!

If you're talking about changing the "ALL" function to the residual heat, yes I can do that. I'm not even sure what the ALL function does. My 08 M3 says rest.

Thank you !!

Can also add the headlight sensitivity switch to the instrument cluster by toggling through with the BC stalk for those without iDrive. If you have iDrive you can have it in both places. Also, efficient dynamics can be turned off using the BC stalk also and toggled if you don't want to see the display.

Very cool stuff. I have about 20 videos that I want to post, just haven't had any time yet.

More to come!! (I also updated the .pdf again --> http://ultimatetune.com/Coding.pdf)

Absolutely -- Provided I can find it in the code, which I should be able to. BMW has changed a bunch of things from year to year, but 95% of the time I can locate the correct functions and perform the proper coding without issue. If you'd like me to disable the two LED's, please come to the meet and I'll take care of it there.

Also, can you add automatic switching between day and night mode in iDrive? I can't believe that feature isn't standard on the 3 Series (but is on the 7 Series!?!) and I thought I saw it on your coding PDF at one time but it seems to have disappeared with the most recent version. From doing a bit of research, it appears some have had success getting the Automatic option to appear in iDrive but it doesn't actually work when selected....

Servotronic and Auto Start/Stop

Mike I emailed you about these, but in case others in the forum are interested, here are two more things I'd love to be able to have coded:

Having the Engine Auto Start/Stop on 2011.5 M3s start in its last state rather than defaulting to OFF? Someone got this coded by a dealer in Australia so it must be possible.

Having M3s start in Servotronic Sport mode available so I don't have to push the M button to get it -- can't understand why BMW doesn't allow this!! Ideally I'd like to preserve a way to access Normal mode (maybe it can start up in Sport but if you go into M Drive and back out, it's Normal?)

The orange LED is on the side of the headlight, and they changed it in the later models.

As far as the automatic switching, I think it may require some additional hardware. I've enabled the option, but am not convinced that it works properly - hence the reason why I removed it from the coding list.

The best way to do it is probably to set a memory key (because it acts as a toggle when day/night are the only things on the list). If I code the automatic mode in, you lose the toggle because three options become available instead of two.

Those of you in the LA area should come to the Individual Meet today and check out the coding in person.
