And if I may throw this car into the mix I will, the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. The first time I saw that one I almost hit the car in front of me because I couldn't take my eyes off it.

Two TOTALLY different cars.

I love white vantages, I would get one over an m3 anyday. However im sure its one expense car to maintain.

Buy used....... they are not that crazy expensive. Have a Warrant Officer buddy of mine bought one last summer over ebay..... thing was drop dead gorgeous.............. totalled it a few months back though.... pity. think he paid like 58-62k for it....... with shipping to Germany. Only had 8k miles on it.

Like pure SEX!!!!! If I had the option to buy one, I would not care if it had 12hp as long as it sounded that good.

I have been a silent lurker on this forum for sometime and feel this is one topic I can add to. I have been a longtime M3 fan having owned both an E36 and E46 in the past and am currently waiting for my SG ZCP (which just entered VPC today ) to replace my 08 RS4 as a DD. I also have the pleasure of owning a 08 Vantage N400. Let me just say that these are both fantastic cars in their own ways. The Aston is in my opinion one of the all time best looking cars, which is why I bought it. Its performance is respectable but really doesn't compare to its comparably priced rivals...but I don't care! Every time I get in it just feels special and when you open up the throttle the exhaust note is simply awesome. But for my needs it lacks the day to day sensibility of the RS4 or M3. If I had the choice of purchasing a used Vantage for the same price as a new M3 for a non daily driver, I would choose the Aston hands down. The first run of Vantages had their fair share of issues but from 08 on they are pretty bulletproof and require an annual service at a cost of ~$1000. Either way you look at it we are all very fortunate to be able to drive these wonderful machines.

Then I'll provably go with the Aston. I have an X5M and on other forums I've been reading that people are replacing their M3's for the X5M. Seeing as I already have an X5M I won't be needing an M3 as a cruiser and so the Aston's probably what I'll get. Now the search begins for the best deal.....

I'd get the Aston if I were in your situation. Nothing is like an Aston Martin. My wife won't even let me visit a AM dealership she is so worried I would leave with one!

Financially, if this is not a DD, I would agree with some of the other posters that a used AM might even be the better choice.

Haha !! My wife dreaded my visit for the same reason !!
She said if I went I would probably trade the M3 in for an AM V8V.

Honestly: who would not give up thier M3 if they could get an AMV8V ?
I personally would. I was looking at one before I got my E92 but the service costs OMG !!
They were both priced same but the Aston had a 10000 milage already down so I decided to go with my new M3. But still the Aston would be my choice if it werent so darned expensive.
When you have one of those who cares about the power ? The looks alone compensate everything.

Im now thinking that the wife can have the M3 and Ill get myself the V8 in about 2 years.

I told her that & all of a sudden
The wife knows whats good
