It is just speculation, but the gap between performance cars is closing across the board. You can spend as little as 30k and have 400+ hp. In the past you would have never thought of a M3 and Mustang being comparable performance wise. Today though many manufacturers are making some very competitive machinery, more than ever before.

BMW builds the best cars as well as fastest (if needed). No matter what Audi, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and other fancy manufacturers try, BMW will always be there to scare them and fend them off.
