It will be like the E60 M5. There is still a yellow and red line that comes up to the correct rpm. So the feature is there. They just don't use the lights anymore. It still is very nice IMO, maybe even a little classier.

First post genius. And the thread was near the top of the list as well! Please read other posts in the future before cluttering up the forum with unneccesary threads.

By the way. Are you asking because you like the way the LED's in SMG equipped M3's also show when to shift gear?

yes that is another function which i thought was really good! i mean these things made the car so unique from the standard 3er, never mind the competition, i know ive been cut down for reposting, but these little things, are what make it an M when you sit in turn the ignition, light up in a certain manner look good but are functional too, unlike sitting in a DB9 turn on the ignition the MPH and RPM needles goto the max and return to zero, and a screen comes up with power and soul or something thats tacky! but i hope the new M3 "gadgets" are similar if not an improvement which they should be. |

I hope they incorporate shift LEDs like they have in F1 cars..... A line of LEDs on the dash or steering wheel somewhere
On the M5 / M6 with the HUD, the HUD is too slow and if you use the HUD, you bounce off the rev limiter, so you need to use the old tach. Just a pipe dream.

I saw th HUD working in the M5, friends car, must admit it looks awesome n honestly wanted it, but i was always unsure of how quick and accurate it would be as it is projected (am i right?) and projection units in my experiance generally have a sluggish response time, so i think things like temp or initial start may affect the clarity of writing, i am not sure as i havent driven a M5 long enough! maybe someone who has could enlighten me, love the seats you feel as though you are in a roler coster!! what ever the dash has in it i cant wait to be snapping the tacho to red line n hear the beast roar! ! |
