You will not melt your piston in a stock Cobra running 8PSI boost even if the IC system fails. All factory FI systems as well as ours are designed so that there is enough margin to compensate for a failing IC system.

Even in our VT2-625 kit you can run hard all day long without a functioning IC system. It will pull some power, but it will run perfectly safe.

This is essential in any FI system, as you can be sure that a percentage of customers will have some sort of IC related failure (pump, electric, kinked hose or lack of coolant) during the course of a cars life, and if this is not taken into consideration you will have a massive amount of very frustrated customers with blown engines.

Wow thanks for the info! Great to know there is a large margin of error. So it would be perfectly safe to run the VT1 @ 5PSI, per se?

Car will always be leaving a temperature controlled garage so no issues there, however return trip I could be facing a cold start up.

Looking at the Vortech warranty page it appears to be an issue (voids warranty). Not sure if this is applicable in the VT-535/575 application.

"Subjecting any Vortech supercharger to a cold start-up condition (below 25 F) without the use of an engine block heater/aftermarket engine blanket."
Awesome question. In my area, temperatures range from -30C to +35C (-22F-95F). Can you comment on this, ESS?

Thanks!

Gives a break to your M3 when it is -30... why do not you buy a snowmobile for the winter, it seems that there are no problems with very cold start

Who saıd anythıng about runnıng 8psı I was up to 15psı. Stock IC was fıne, just the way the coolant passages were desıgned ın the cobra block caused the problem...no way for the coolant to cırculate. I had to punch out the freeze plug on the passenger sıde of the block and ınstall a coolant return hose...went through the heater core, but at least the coolant could cırculate. The second tıme I had even upgraded to a better heat exchanger (Gordsford) and I had a Whıpple SC, whıch tends to run cooler than the Eatons...happened agaın. Just a poorly desıgned block. The 03\04 Cobras also dıd not come wıth a knock sensor, so unless you could hear the detonatıon you wouldn,t know ıt was there...and wıth the full Bassanı exhaust system I was runnıng all I could hear was the motor...untıl I slowed down and heard that dreaded metallıc tıckıng noıse.

I have no doubts of the ESS systems and plan to add that to my mod lıst when I get back to the states. Ive closely followed all your stuff and I am totally convınced of the qualıty of your product. ESS ıs the only SC I wıll put on my M3.

Lots of interest in ESS supercharger kits in this thread, so I thought I would go ahead and announce that I will be removing the VT2-600 kit from my car this week and will be putting it up FOR SALE.
The VT2-600 kit on my car enabled me to set the fastest 60-130 time on just blower with no race gas or meth! Send me a PM for any questions you might have.

ESS is a great company and I have very much enjoyed working with AJ and Roman! They really take pride in their product and take care of their customers!

We have many cars that use our kits in sub 25 deg F temps without issue. Our 2 year warranty will cover the blower 100% regardless of the climate it is used in.

I think about the SC kit everyday. My biggest concern is the warranty. Makes me a little nervous to have BMW come back and tell me they are not covering something because I have this installed. Not trying to thread jack but what is everyones experience with this?

Don't expect any warranty coverage from BMW on drivetrain components (i.e. engine, transmission, differential etc.). I have had no issue whatsoever with BMW covering non-drivetrain related components (my most recent issue was electronics with daytime running lights, which BMW covered under warranty no problem). As others have said, it is dealer dependent.

Hey AJ,

Any chance of a group buy happening? I think you might get a decent response from the sound of it.

Cheers,

Thats what I'm waiting for before I pull the trigger on the kit. Either that, or someone who is selling theirs privately.

We just recently lowered the price of the VT1-535 kit so we will not be doing any further discounts at this time.

Should be fine with 4.10s, but could argue that stock gears will allow better traction in lower gears. Along with making the lower gears more usable in general with the extra HP.

The only issue that probably isn't a big deal but if you drag race and have sticky tires the higher numerically the rear end the weaker the ring gear is since it has more teeth. I knew this but had to find out the hard way in another car. Sticky drag slicks with a 4.86 rear end (stock is 4.12), drop the clutch and "clunk" two teeth cleanly removed from ring gear.
