Reversal of BMWNA position on annual low-mileage oil change?

I saw this mentioned in another post, and wondered if the BMWNA covered maintenance guidelines had in fact been changed back to including an annual oil change regardless of mileage. Fact or Fiction?

Originally, low mileage users still got an oil change every year regardless of mileage. Starting in 2010 they changed the policy so that to get a change annually if not over 15K or whatever you had to actually drive less than 5K, or some similar such formula.

Just wondered if they had reversed this position to be in synch with the original guidance of once per year regardless of mileage.

Never heard the 5k mileage thing. Castrol's service interval of their 10W-60 is 15k or one year, whichever comes first.

I was just turned away because I went in for annual oil change. At 9k. They said new policy is less than 5k in a year since last change or wait till 15k.

I brought my car in for the two year service today. I drive about 5K a year. Last March I had the oil changed by them for free, based ont he low mileage accomodation change. They told me today that I could get it changed again in either 3950 miles (when I hit 15) or in March when it is one year and one day since the last change.

So, confirmed. They will change it every year. Just not every 51 weeks....LOL

The Original discussion of the more restrictive policy, not allowing annual low mileage changes, was discussed here:
