sorry I didn't get that ..maybe I'm being dense: why would driving north change the situation with snow near grants pass etc? The reason I ask is one of the options I'm contemplating is ordering it through Golffrr and Ryan - flying down and driving it back up. If I order in Jan - I'm assuming it gets here in late march - I've been wondering if I5 will still be a mess coming up north ... do folks avoid I5 and come up through the coast (US101 ) ?

I'm planning to do the same thing (but in early April). I intend to avoid I-5 as much as possible because the costal highways are generally much more fun to drive and I plan to take a few days getting back so the extra driving time isn't a concern.

I plan to take 101 and stick to the coast till I pass My Shasta and Grants Pass, then head East. This adds between 3 and 5 hours to the trip. I will watch the weather and wonder if anyone knows a mapping software like Google mpas that overlays weather. I bet truckers would love that. Anyway, I may actually hit Grants Pass if I weather cooperates just to speed things up.
Also, if you look for a buddy to go with you... its hard. you do not want to invite too many people as you really only want one co-driver. If they back out... you are going solo as few will do a trip like that late notice. Burbank is closer / better to Steve Thomas than LAX. I say if you can do this with your SO, and plan a Napa trip along the route - you are doing it right. I did both ED and LA on a shostring budget and rushed. I figure better to have rushed live experiences than none. 24 hours to car pickup... Tomasz

Have fun driving back from the pickup. I should be able to attend the slip-on install.
See you then.

Napa is fantastic. The only problem is that M3 plus wine equals yikes!
And one thing they have in Napa is a lot of (free) wine.

Take the day off. It is the 30th. BTW, do you still have these grills for sale?

I'm still hoping to come. Although I hear the roads are icy which may keep me home... We'll see.

Hi there;
Nicolas and I watched as my Akra got installed at Motoring Unlimited. We also walked around their shop and checked out some classic rally cars. Including McRae's Ford. You really should check out that place. Then we went to Jacks for a fantastic $10 burger! Yes it was a bit icy, but simply by being careful we avoided any issues. Tomasz
