Don't let the BMW fans get under your skin. I've had plenty of Bimmers and plenty of problems. In fact, my X6M is having a little emissions issue now.
BMWs quality isn't that great.

BTW, good luck with your Mustang!

Congrats on the GT500. I have a 2011 with the SVTPP myself and it is a fun car. Completely different from the M3, but enjoyable to drive none the less.

Keep in mind that there are issues with the Shelby just like there are with the M3. My GT500 has the well know first to second grind while shifting at high RPM. This isn't just a Shelby issue, but a Tremec 6060 issue. Otherwise my car is still holding up pretty well, but I only have 2k miles on it so who know what the future holds.

Enjoy your new Ford.

Didn't read everything, but OP, sorry if you were offended by my original post:

If you're selling your M3 because your idle valve went out and this is the only problem that you've had with your M3, then I think you might be overreacting a bit due to your 335i past. The idle valve is not like the HPFP: I've never heard of anyone having replaced their idle valve more than once, unlike an HPFP.

Either way, good luck.
You just happen to be the first person who had idle valve problems with those kinds of symptoms. I was one of the first people in the USA to have that issue: I got my car in like July or August of 2008, and my idle valve broke at 2.1~2.3k miles. It was fixed and I never had any further idle issues, I lemoned my car for other things. Maybe a case of negligent repair?

Anyways, good luck with your 'Stang, it's a beast, and a good looking one at that.

I just wanted a quick 'cool' car with a back seat that handled well so I went for the GT500, I would still be in a Corvette if it wasnt for a back seat. So far I like the M3, it was a total impulse buy. I can say its one of the nicest cars I ever owned but if it left me stranded a couple times and the dealer couldnt fix it I could change my mind pretty quick.
hahaha, so true, quote of the year!

tough crowd, good luck with the GT500, nice performing car, both the M3 and GT500 have their pros and cons, it's what person putting the down $$ thinks that's matters

I'm sorry but I am an avid car collector and I cant remember what is so special about the shelby... or the other 26 variations of the current mustang.

You don't gain respect from a car you drive. I can tell you that even in a Carrera GT, people pull up in other sports cars and are douche bags. However, the nicest person I met and a huge car nut, had a V6 mustang. (all he could afford)

Sorry to hear about your M3. Luckily you can get out of it and not be stuck with it. The mustang is a hell of a bargain. I feel bad for anyone that bought the previous GT mustang and missed out on the new engine for the same price.

If I ever left the m3 I'd get a gtr drop a little bit of cash in it and have a straight rocket. 0-60 3 seconds anyone?

That's a nice color for a GT3 man. I'd never see myself driving a blue GT3 til I saw that. Bownering material indeed!

As for the mustang GT500, I would actually purchase one if I can afford it.

Garage List
2008 m3  [5.00]
Speed Channel had a special on the development of new the Boss 302. Pretty cool how they test/race them on the track for 2 years before releasing them to the public. They mentioned that the m3 was their target in terms of performance and that they wanted to beat the m3 times at Laguna which they claimed they did. It's good to see other car companies aiming for the m3 and surpassing it in performance. Just means BMW have to step up their game the next time around.

I have to say I'm impressed with this car. Seems like they've come a long ways. If I saw one on the street, I'd def give a thumbs up to the driver.

Hope the OP enjoys his new car!
