Keep it simple. Either your mum gave you the wrong amount OR your broke gf took it. Which is more likely?

To me it would be unlikely that your mum gave the wrong amount since she knew exactly how much the ticket was. It is much more likely that the gf took it. I would say that even if she wasnt broke, however, her money situation makes it even more likely.

Im not saying she 101% took it, but I'm saying dont be fooled that because she asked you for money and showed her account to you at the ATM she is telling the truth. Maybe she needed the money so badly to pay bills, charges and money she owes to other people. That would be one reason why it might not be in her account. Plus if she took it she would know that you would eventually get suspicious and all she has to do is put on an act.

On balance, your gf did it.

First off, if either of my kids thought their mom was at fault with something like this they would never hear the end of it from me and she and I don't even talk. She's family, she's your mom fool. If she says she gave you 2900 she did.
