CORRECTION!!!!!

BMW GT4 car AND PARTS are available for THE UNITED STATES! No joke. Obviously it will take some time to get them imported to the US, however from what I'm told, some parts ARE STREET LEGAL.

Email Bucky@Scottsdalemotorsport.com

for more information. They do a great job on all modifications, have major connections with BMW in Germany, and recently acquired the license in the US to sell these parts and the car as a whole. Anyone interested should get on it ASAP cause that is one HAWT car. Good luck, and any additional info, I'm sure they'll be happy to fill you in on.

What parts would not be street legal? The only obvious things that I can think of are tires, and, in states where smog tests are performed, any engine modifications that will not pass. Everything else should be street legal or at least "street legal" since no one is going to stop you and start taking an inventory on your car. I mean if we start worrying strictly about street legality, then a ton of common mods are out the window, such as the corner reflector blanks for example. I guess my point is that regardless of whether something is technically street legal or not, people are going ot put it on their street car. Now, whether the part is practical for use on the street is another matter entirely, but even that is not going to stop people.

Point taken, however my point was that the GT4 parts are available to be sold from them and if you wanted them, because everyone on this thread seemed pretty excited about it, you should email the guy's that I said previously, as they are able to get any and all the parts.

They're stacked with drivers but it's all for nothing if the cars don't hold up. The last R8 I remember seeing photos of on the Ring was on fire.

There is a select dealer network that will be selling Motorsport Products, the US market will have its own network and price structure, this was announced in February- The final network, pricing and items have not been finalized yet. Dealers currently importing EU products may not be considered to be a US dealer... there are some guidelines for this network etc.

The items will be for "off road use only", so there is no implied BMW warranty or guarantee they meet DOT regulations, emissions etc... what the purchaser chooses to do with the product is in his own hands and limits BMWs responsibility.

Bodies in white and full cars for the US will be available at some point but there are restrictions on importing such items and that is still being worked on...

Sorry for the thread BUMP, but I wanted to know and/or get opinions:

Will BMW now offer the 4.4L motor on this car? If not, I wonder why they spent all the money on that motor? It seems like it would be a boon for them in racing.

And for that matter, why not a 4.4L P65 motor in the GT2 Rahal/Letterman cars? All they need to do is sell enough GTS road cars to make that legal in ALMS, right?

What do you all think?

Basically right, due to GT4 reglementation.
The car carries 55kg in the rear, between the Akra mufflers and another 25kg in a box located at the pax seat location (see pics). So actually this car comes to 1.350kg.
Additionally the M3 GT4 was restricted by FIA and received a ECU mapping which was stock minus 7%, so actually the gains from the Akra where compensated. With the Aerokit which came out recently (frontsplitter and rear wing) there was also a new ECU mapping included which allows more power and rpm.
Unfortunate it´s winter now in Germany
