I've been running Malek's settings on my e92 335 for the last 2 years. Amazing! Best i've ever tried. Can't wait to try these out on the M when i get it! Keep up the great work Malek.
Only question i have is what settings should i tweak if i'm listening to mostly hip-hop. In my 335 you told me that "Rap and hip/hop generally are a bit amplified in the middle, low and top range and are generally dead anywhere inbetween that area" so you had me "Go to the 1khz setting and take it down a bar, and go to the 500 hz setting and take it down a bar". Thougths in this situation or should i be good with the settings you already proposed? |

A great OEM system should sound good with all the adjustments in the center and sound great after adjusting to taste. The EPS sounds like crap in the center and barely decent after spending quite some time fiddling with the 7-band EQ, bass, treble, and fader. For me that's a bad design. |

It was done using equipment and then finalized through all sorts of music.
If you listen to hip hop and rap and that kind of music, no factory stereo will probably satisfy you as those kinds of songs are mastered so incorrectly its sad. Nowadays people think the louder the recording, the better the "quality" of the song, however, this is not true at all. -Malek |

OP, thanks for posting, this is very helpfull
![]() However, I was driving with my friend and he happens to be DJ IDES himself... we played some of his newest tracks http://www.djides.com/2010/09/wicked-summer-2010/ on EPS in my E92, I asked him to set EQ and this is what he did: He originally set Fader to zero, but I asked him to move it just a tap to rear... but it was just my preference not necessarily a better one on my part... Hope it helps...

eq setting
Thanks I'll try your set up and see if I like it or not. I've had the car for two months and I have yet to find the best e.q. setting for my premium sound system.
Thanks ![]() |

Wondering if anyone has settings for E90 M3's yet? I have yet to find something that I love.

*however* I just got the option and didn't look at it in detail, however what BMW claims is that it has a live DIRAC processor that supposedly sets up an EQ filter to make the audio "perfect" in real-time. I would imagine there is a microphone somewhere doing measurements. My current thought is the installation is f-d up and it's destroying the EQ curve instead of fixing it. http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...ory-visit.html |

You guys need to adjust this to YOUR ear. Of all things subjective sound is probably the most widely varied. Like the "DJ" setting above. Is anyone really surprised that he bumped up the bass and dropped everything above that? DJs are the LAST people I'd go to for advice on anything sound quality related.
Also, there is plenty of good hip-hop and rap that's well recorded. You just have to know where to look. Modent pop/Top 40 stuff is probably the worst stuff available since it's all compressed to sound good on earbuds. |
