2006 bmw m3 smg HELP PLEASE READ IT
I can guys am looking into buying e46 m3, and I found its 2006 BMW m3 with SMG Trans, red seats, and gray color with 38,000 miles. Its a private sale and he's willing to sell it for $28000 is it a good deal or no, still has about 2 months of factory warranty And is there a big difference between the SMG and manual trans, need some input please And what should I check out before buying this And how the reliability of this trans and does it drive like a manual First time buying BMW Thanks |

yes it drives like manual in the sense that you do the shifting...but no it does not drive like a manual because you don't actually clutch and shift.
most manual drivers will tell you that it's not as "fun" to drive but that's just a matter of opinion most driver's are not going to be able to "shift" as quickly and precisely as the smg transmission if you do a search on fanatics you find some owners have problems with the smg |

The SMG drives EXACTLY like a manual in the sense that you will feel the clutch engage/disengage from a stop as well as when it changes gears. The only difference is that the computer is doing it for you.
Be aware of the SMGII hydraulic pump on the e46 m3s, as it has a tendency to fail.
