I like my 06 SMG. If the car has good service records, sounds good. I would bring it by a dealer for a PPI, pre purchace inspection, and see if anything is wrong.

With the SMG you can do "Launch Control".
Ask if the car has had any vanos problems.

With SMG you have the feeling you're driving manual in terms of momentum forces with shifting. Example: Going from 1st to 2nd in a hard pull, you can feel the car disengage the clutch and reengage, pushing you back into your seat.

When you're on an incline the car will roll back like a manual, due to the clutch being open, until you apply more throttle. With an auto the car does not have this behavior.

X2 perfect response. It should cost like 120 bucks last time i checked for a ppi. Plus when you go to the dealer they can pull up the full service record. Since its still under warranty i cant see why they would take the car to be serviced privately since its free through bmw. So there shouldnt be any issues that bmw doesnt know about.

As far as the smg itself goes....its very fun to drive. Once you get the hang of it and develop the feel for it your going to love it. I had an e46 m3 smg when i was younger. Funnest car i ever had, i still miss it.
