Castrol oil 10W-60 TWS

So where do we purchase (at best price) our Castrol TWS Motorsport 10W-60?
Is there a local equivalent available? Other excellent options?
Sponsors?
BMWCCA members get 10% discount ?
Thanks for the advice and my apologies if the topic is re-hash for the forum!.

Some BMW dealers charge well over BMWUSA suggested retail for parts and accessories. The Tischer site is a great way to check to see what your dealer's policy is. In addition, most Tischer parts and accessories are discounted off suggested retail. If you find that your dealer is out of line, then Tischer is an excellent choice. Their responsiveness to inquiries and customer service are top notch.

Hello everyone

Well now this happens,

It is possible to have TWS 10x60 outside the BMW network (at least in Europe)

BMW has requested from Castrol exclusivity of the appellation "TWS"

castrol unwilling to let its customers depending on the BMW brand alone, they have created a new name the Castrol Edge 10w-60 certified BMW

Do not be confused with the EDGE SPORT SAE 10W-60 is the successor of the late SR 10W60

the EDGE 10W-60 has exactly the same composition as the TWS, which will not change anything for our BMW.

Local Autozones here don't carry it; not even as special order. Hopefully in the future. For now it's Tischer for me, as the only local stealer wants $28.50 (plus tax) for each liter .

The reality is how many cars need 10/60 oil? Unless you live in a major city, I don't see the majority of Autozones carrying this oil at all. Plus I doubt we'd save much over Tischer's prices anyway. By the way, what's its retail price?

And it's the best oil IMO. And you probably will only need a quart every 10,000 miles anyway... How much is your burning? Or, just got a top off at the dealership...
I have no issue with burning oil yet but waas thinking about changing oil and filter more frequently than covered under warranty. So planning ahead.

This is from the Castrol EDGE website:
http://bplubricants.apfco.com/R6790W/index.cfm

Purchase the following:
Purchase #1: Five (5) quarts or more of Castrol EDGE between June 1, 2010 and July 31, 2010

Purchase #2: Five (5) quarts or more of Castrol EDGE between June 1, 2010 and November 30, 2010
Send:
This Official Mail-in Certificate completely filled out.
Proof-of-Purchase Required: From Both Purchases send original dated register receipt(s) indicating retailer name, date of purchase(s) and price(s) paid for Castrol EDGE motor oil.
Register receipts dated before June 1, 2010 and after November 30, 2010 will not be accepted.
Receive:
A rebate check for 50% of the price paid for half (but no more than six (6)) of the quarts of Castrol EDGE for which qualifying proofs of purchase are submitted. Excludes cost of filter, sales tax and any other products or services. Lowest price paid prevails.

Now I just need to locate an AutoZone or WalMart that has the product in stock.

I have checked at AutoZone and spoke with the manager about trying to special order (not available in the store). He said that he would check and let me know. No call in two weeks.

Today I checked in WalMart, they stock Castrol EDGE but not 10w-60.

Redline Oil also makes a 10W-60. Given they are a Group IV rated synthetic, which I'm not sure Castrol TWS or Castrol Edge is...but I may be wrong (for instance, Mobil 1 is a Group III-rated synthetic), I'd say the Redline route looks like a good one. www.redlineoil.com

TWS reportedly is a Group IV oil. I even saw one comment that said it was Group V, but I doubt it. Both are true 100% synthetic oils, so they're the best. A group V is overkill unless you're really pushing OCIs to the limit, which most of us don't do. What's also overkill is 10/60 on an engine not tracked constantly (no other car specs more than 5/40), but will keep using it at least until warranty is over.
