What next? Trying to decide between a Bentley and a 911?
No was just commenting on it's torque and comparing the straight line performance as I have never felt power like that in a big luxury sedan. I realize that you cannot really compare the two (apples and oranges). I mentioned that in the other posts.

Played around with the latest face-lifted S65 on the motorway the other day. I caught up with him and he started getting on the gas. It didn't seem that much faster if at all on high speed when giving it all. My E92 DCT is totally unmodified but we were running neck and neck above 200 km/h, it was not very scientific since there was some traffic and each of us was getting on the gas at not exactly the same time. It was clear though that he was being pegged back at around 265-270 by a limiter at which point I would fly past him (I have the M drivers pack but have seen over 300 in a few occasions). After a couple of minutes I let him go because of wife screaming and fear that my almost completely shot PS2s wont cope well with the high speeds for long. I like the S class a lot but was a little surprised as I thought the S65 would offer near supercar levels of acceleration which was clearly not the case.

S Mercs here in Germany are pretty pointless in the cities. Parking is a pity and many of the streets are too narrow for 2 cars to pass at the same time......... on the autobahn however.......... a drivers dream. The M3 is was a great designed car, practical in all situations

The S65 is a pure monster, he probably wasn't even trying although looking a bit closer at drag times, 1/4 mile times, trap speeds, etc. the disparity isn't that wide.

It does a 0-60 mph sprint in 4.4 second which the E90/E92 should beat, if I'm reading the 10+ performance numbers posted on the M3 DCT (4.1, 4.3, etc.)

That Twin-Turbocharged V12 definitely has the upper hand >75mph, there's no way the M3 can keep up but I guess you'd be surprised looking at your post. It being limited to 155 doesn't help either.

The S65 is a total waste of money IMO.

The person in the s65 wasn't giving enough throttle. The above post was correct. The 0-60 times are close, but at speeds above +75, the m3 has no chance in a straight line. I have driven the car. It never stops pulling like crazy until it reaches it's governed top speed. It's a very unbalanced and overpowered car.

There ain't a stock E92 M3 on the planet that does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds...the best I have seen is like a 4.6

I believe one of the car and driver reviews obtained times in the low 4 second range.

However, if you are comparing it's straight line performance, it's obviously faster than any stock BMW that I have ever driven, including an m6.
+1. I mentioned that in the above post. It's really not a straight forward "M3 vs" thread.

For those of you that said you wouldnt trade an M3 for a S65, you guys are idiots...

I would trade for one, sell it, buy another M3, and pocket the extra money.

OMG! I love the M3. OMG. You can drive it on the track everyday, like everybody here does. It goes so, so fast. It is so fast. I mean, it's a BMW. What more can anybody say!! On the track. It is so fast. Nothing is even close. OMG. I'm going to buy a Zonda, too. Those are so fast, too. I saw that on Top Gear. It's the best car. Except the M3 is so great on the track. OMG. I love the track. I want a M3 for the track. Nothing can touch it on the track. I'm going to buy a Scuderia, too. It's the best car. I saw that on Top Gear. Except the M3 is so great on the track. It's so well balanced that not even a Rolls Royce Phantom can touch it. Those cars are nothing but big pigs and can't handle at all on the track. Pieces of crap. Especially on the track. But the M3 is a track monster, yeah! OMG. I'm going to wash and wax mine everyday so it doesn't get dirty. People look at me in my M3 and always give me the thumbs up on the track.
