Personal tastes vary widely on watches like this, but, I personally think the Panerai 292 is very plain looking. Those who know the brand (which will be very few) will be impressed. Most everyone else will not. If you're looking for status amongst a select group, buy the watch. Otherwise (and assuming your M3 is not a track car), buy neither and bank the cash.
You clearly don't know anything about watches. The more accurate the more expensive the watch usually is. Hence why Patek Philippe is usually price around 30-60 grand for solid gold watches. However, if you were to spend 10k on a watch I would go with a Breitling, a much more beautiful face and over all design, very accurate as well.

CLEARLY, you're the one who doesn't know anything about watches; no matter how many Patek Philippe (try spelling "Philippe" correctly) watches you own. Consider the following that any 10-year-old could have found via Google:

"Most inexpensive and medium-priced watches used mainly for timekeeping are electronic watches with quartz movements. Expensive, collectible watches valued more for their workmanship and aesthetic appeal than for simple timekeeping, often have purely mechanical movements and are powered by springs, even though mechanical movements are less accurate than more affordable quartz movements." (see Wikipedia)

I could easily produce hundreds of references to refute your claims that the more costly a watch is, the more accurate it is. Certainly, some mechanical movements are more accurate than other mechanical movements due to increased complexity. The increased complexity would of course increase the cost of the watch. However, mechanical movements are not (and probably never will be) as accurate as quartz movements. Feel free to provide evidence to the contrary.

The OP (who has probably lost interest in this thread long ago) requested feedback on whether to buy a watch or a BBK. Like many others, I provided my input in a polite and non-judgmental manner. A few people like you have chosen to attack others who you perceive as being opposed to spending a lot of money on a watch. Worse is that you think you know more than you actually do. You obviously have a lot of money (two Ferraris in your garage) and apparently several expensive watches in your jewelry box. Don't you have anything better to do than to attack people on a Web forum?

That is somewhat true. With automatic watches, that is usually the case. However, a quartz watch is far cheaper and by far, way more accurate then an automatic.

LOL at expensive watches. Another LOL if your deciding between the both. Last LOL if you dont have enough money for both and if your even trying to get it threw your head which one to buy first.

haha same here and wondered which forum i was on? to the OP, if you got that PAM, post some pics! also, any love for JLC or IWC around these parts? i always though car enthusiasts would be more likely to appreciate true craftsmanship, engineering, detail, and precision...such as that found in a car or timepiece.

Why did this have to be resurrected.

Muccels,
One of your first contributions to the site had to be the 180th post to say "Panerai"?

Either way you are screwed, the mod bug is viscous.

If you get the P, you will lust after the BBK until it is yours.
If you get the BBK, you will lust after the P until ti is yours.

So, which one do you want first?

For what it's worth, I would Go BBK.

Good Luck

I'm a watch nut as well, and I always tell people, "you don't get to take your car into the party." A fine time piece can be enjoyed for decades, those brakes will be out dated in 2 years at best. I'm personally a Frank Muller fan, but Go for the Pan!!!

No brainer - PAM

Watches can be used as heirlooms..and they're very nice symbols of status ..as well as your car..

however your already represented with a nice whip..now you can ball some more with a fine timepiece.

Panerai, defs. A great timepiece is essential to any man's wardrobe. And like ^^ said, "heirloom." Much more value than BBK's.

go for the watch. that mod will actually not lose all it's value.

you've probably made that decision a long time ago anyways

i had the same debate recently, no regrets here at all!
