The Bellof LED setup is interesting, but as many people will agree, that this kit lacks proper heat sinking. If you look at the AIB kit, the Mtec kit for the E90, or any of the LUX kits, they all made out of aluminum to allow for the heat to dissipate.

H8 Halogen - 730 Lm +- 110. 175 hours
LUX H8 - 850 Lumen, 50,000 hours
AIB - (this is only a guess) ~560 lumen

DRLs operate at partial voltage man, so it's probably a lot less than that figure. Having said that, stock is perfectly adequate to me as far as intensity (they're DRLs, not headlights). The only thing that bothered me was the color, and a switch to 8500ºK GPThunders ($20 delivered), which look white, was all it took to please me . With no modifications at all.

the only other problem is they dim when the headlights turn on... if they stayed the same they would be cool

No dimming here, same brightest all around, check out the HID Angel Eyes, see if that is bright enough for you guys

I also forgot to mention, the LUX H8 kits do not dim either, they stay full brightness

The bellof kit uses LED lighting with no need for a ballast. LED lighting uses less voltage and creates MUCH less heat than a halogen or HID setup. There is no need for any heat sinking

This is a plug a and play solution. Take out the oem bulb, and replace with this bulb.

The output of the LUX (CREE LEDs) are a bit different than what Marc is claiming, and AiB has been measured at between 700-750 lumens. The rated lifespan of LEDs has been debated for some time and is still in contention. Incandescent bulbs and LEDs are rated at very different lifespans.

LUX states a 1 year warrant on their solution, while AiB units offer a 3 year warranty.

For an incandescent bulb that says it will last 500 hours, after that 500 hours the bulb will burn out. For an LED at 30,000 hours it will still be at more than 75% of its initial light output probably until 100,000 hours where there will be another percentage drop in light output.

While an LED manufacturer may claim 50,000 hours, this is usually running at less than room temperature in a perfect environment, not within a headlamp in a moving car inches away from your engine. The heat buildup, gases and vibrations of the environment near the engine leads us to quote a more conservative 30,000 hours (most new LED products on the market it will be 30,000 hours). The difference between 30K-50k hours in this application is irrelevant for the amount of hours per day the headlights are used in a car.

However, the CREE LEDs are nice LEDs. The LED we use in our opinion is better better suited for our specific application, since we are redirecting the light at the reflector housing to properly distribute light evenly towards both rings.

The output of the LEDs is irrelevant in comparison - as it really comes down to the focusing and optics used to introduce the light into the fiber optic lines of the angel eyes in these headlights, which AiB performs an excellent job with.

hey guys, with the lux not working on the 2010's, does that mean they won't work on 2011's as well? What are my options beside HID angel eyes?

Tom - Sorry for being wrong about the AIB brightness. I had measured the output current and did the math from there.

For the LUX H8 Kits, those numbers are 100% correct though. They might even be a bit low because of the bin code LED's i had used

I still don't know which kit to get, leaning towards the AiB's, always have, they seem like a solid product, very good light distribution, nice color temp not as insane and overpowering as the HID kit...

I read that negative feedback thread on the AiB's a couple days ago (some failing, some not bright enough, etc.) and that is just making me ask questions and here more info from members that have these kits installed.

I guess it's between the LUX and AiB if we're talking LED kits that use the fiber paths... OSS and HID's are out...

i did check the OSS angel eyes and didnt seem to like them . They look to japanese type angel eyes ( just my personal opinion ) .
So now shortlisted to lux or AiB .

Well its your option really if you are looking for a LED based system ( which i recomend). I would say compare the prices, compare the pictures, and also the reviews from the users here on the forum
