Saeedg,

It's a great idea, I am just not interested in any after-market alarms for my car.

Thanks,

Scotty

He won't be able to order it since it's a Euro part# but you can order it yourself from roveractive@verizon.net for $400 from and let them install it.

Aftermarket is a bad idea. If you get an electrical problem down the road, BMW will most likely blame it on the aftermarket alarm and deny warranty work.

Okay...so here is the lovely response from my SA:

"We will have to look much deeper into this retrofit. Can it be done? The short answer is , yes, anything can be done. At what time and expense is another question. If you read into these instructions, in addition to all the parts included in the retrofit kit, your vehicle will also require the replacement of the entire headliner as well as the driver’s door latch assembly. This retrofit kit is not intended for sale in the US although I see that the kit for your production date is not currently available either here or in Germany. The kit for vehicles produced after 3/10 is available in Germany so it is possible that the kit you require will become available sometime in the near future.

Loosely speaking, I’d have to guess that this retrofit along with the headliner (is yours Alcantara?) and door latch plus installation and retrofit programming and coding will push well beyond $2000 (an accurate estimate cannot be determined as we have no idea what difficulties may unfold). I cannot foresee any other difficulties we might encounter during this process (coding, parts compatibility for US vehicles, etc.), but I do suspect that altering the vehicle order will require the participation of BMWNA as the alarm retrofit is not something currently included in our software’s capability. Therefore, BMWNA will have to create and alter a vehicle order specifically for your application.

If you are truly interested in pursuing this retrofit, I would be willing to spend the hours researching and requesting further assistance from BMWNA engineering. I would suspect that this may take some time as they will need to contact their colleagues in Germany as well as waiting for the correct kit to become available, so your patience will be required."

WTF?!

Guess I am back to my Glock.

Mine doesn't require the replacement of the entire headliner or the driver’s door latch assembly. I have the black headliner (m-sport) w/ moonroof. Maybe that's why.

Yeah, I am not so lucky with the carbon roof and alcantara.

I installed mine. It was a real pain in the ass but doable.

wrtbks: if they told you they could install it then I'd make them honor that promise.
