e93 multi channel amp selection

Have an e93 with the hifi system. Just purchased 2 sets of mb quart pvi210 for front and rear speakers. 90 watt max

Have the 2 sws-8x for under the seats. 300 watt max, Not looking for a dedicated large sub due to lack of trunk space.

So, should I go with the JL xd600/6 6 channel amp with 75 x 4 and bridge 5/6 for the 8's?

Or should I go with the hd900/5 at 100 x 4 and 500 for the 8's?

Is the hd900 too powerful for the speakers I have?

Will I benefit from the extra power?

Thanks,

Elie

The XD600/6 will be more than fine although the SWS-8xi would be better for this amp (2 Ohms).

Yes, you cannot bridge the XD amp into a 2ohm load (4ohm + 4ohm in parallel = 2ohm) so you would have to run the SWS in stereo at 75W each, which is not enough to make those woofer really move at the lower frequencies. The HD900/5 on the other hand is stable down to 1.5ohm on its sub channel so it would be the better amp but you would have to be very careful with the gain on the sub channel! Of course, it is a BIT more expensive as well....

Also note that a mono amp channel on the SWS will theoretically cost you some midbass imaging, but I have not noticed it, probably since the SWS suck at midbass.

Any other multi-channel amps, besides the PDX-5 that would be recommended for this set up?

Also, I have the 4ohn sws8's. So which would work best?

The PDX-5 will drive the SWS-8 with the same power regardless of the impedance (2-4 ohms). The XD600/6 will have more power output with the 2 ohms SWS-8 version.

Is there any sound benefit to running this hd900, particularly with the 4ohm 8's?

While I'm sure I dont "need" the better amp, will I see any benefits?

Since the mids and his are rated for 90 watts, I'm sure they will be fine and probably sound better with the cleaner power. But if I will get better sound from the 8's it may be worth the extra money.

Any of this make sense?

I feel that the HD900 sounds better than the PDX-5 but that is only my preference, and you may want to weigh in the additional price also.
