Feedback requested on price

Hi guys
I'm stoked to find this forum which seems to be helpful with good insights. My current ride is a Z4 soft-top convertible which is a lot of fun and I thought it is time for me to take it a notch with my first M3.

I wanted to send this and see what you folks think on below:

2009 M3 E90 @ 55K USD
Factory demo at around 5K miles, in-service date is EOY 2008 with warranty until EOY 2012, Tech package, M-DCT, 19" wheels

Cheers
Aytac

Overpriced 55k. It's a 2 year old car (since 11's are out), no special financing/offers since it's an 09, 2 1/2 yrs on warranty/maint, not even CPO'd.

Thanks for the input. However i am having hard time to understand how you assessed it was overpriced. Just to run some numbers:

Today i went to my local dealer and saw brand new 2010 with similar options MSRPed at 70K. Let's assume dealer is willing to give 3K discount bringing the price down to 67K and sweetening the deal with arranging %1.9 special finance rate available on 2010 models to current BMW owners. So I'm looking at below options:

2009 model, 5K miles , 2.5 yrs remaining warranty/service, 55K USD sales price with %4.1 finance
2010 model, brand new, 4 years remaining warranty/service, 67K USD sales price with %1.9 finance rate

When you add delta from sales tax difference total delta comes to around 13K USD. Finance rates are not also making 2010 model any better option since total interest charge between %4.1 and %1.9 if 30K is borrowed will be close to 2K USD at the end of 48months - which i plan to pay it off this loan sooner than 48months..

So my question to myself is 13K price delta between brand new and 1 yr old car justifiable? What you guys think? Am i missing something here? Will appreciate your feedback..

1.5 years of warranty coverage and 5000 miles are not worth $12,000. Also, 4.1% is quite good rate for a used car.

That said, I would be quite hesitant to purchase a demo. Rolling the dice with how it was treated.

If that is in fact true, that is definitely better than having random people driving it and probably abusing it.

I would recommend you get it in writing or at least speak to management about it, however. Your Sales Advisor might not know the full history of the car.

@ the OP: You can just about get a new '11 for the same price. Check with one of our forum sponsors, David Aviles for invoice pricing. Good Luck.

I bought mine thru David at invoice also, go with him if you don't mind dealing on the phone/online.

I also bought my 09 e92 from David and met him when I picked up my car. He is a former Marine and straight-forward guy and there are no tricks. I think he is just trying to grow his business and is out in front with this internet model. He really does sell them for $100 or so (check with him for exact amount) over invoice.

Base invoice is $53,730.

With a ED it's $49,965.

As an example my '11 on order MSRP's over 73k. David secured it at 63k out the door.

Good luck whichever way you decide.
