Did anyone see this month's Motor Trend?

There is a nice review of the 4.6 Dinan conversion of the M3. Kind of a let down inspite of more than 100hp over stock it really didn't change 0-60 or 1/4 times. They felt it was traction limited. There was also a good review of the Dinan ECU flash for the 335i which did bring that car up to near m3 performance. Worth a look.

Yep, I read it. Good article, but yeah the Dinan M3 didn't seem like it was really worth the new Dinan engine.

I just read both articles, but they were in the June issue of Car & Driver, not Motor Trend.

+1 They were in Car and Driver. It was incredible how much the total conversion cost, I think it was something like 47K for both the motor and suspension. No way it was worth it given the disappointing numbers. To be fair, the track was poor and cost the car some time but still, 47K is ridiculous.
Dinan seems to be very overpriced.

Way too expensive for the performance difference.

Dinan has always been a ridiculously overpriced performance option, and the thing that never ceases to amaze me is the "zero" performance gains from most of their products, including FI kits. However, it's one of the most successful NA BMW tuners. Go figure :

My bad

Car and Driver....
I think the minimal gain for all those mods points to the fact that the M3 is very well optimized by the factory to extract performance from its platform. It would be interesting to see just what numbers all the other mods people are getting would do if tested by a car mag like C and D? I suspect we would see a similar scant change...
