Jerez Black... it's black
So, it was a busy sunny Sunday afternoon of cars getting hand car washed. I was outside waiting for mine to be called out... "Uhh, the dark blue BMW is ready...?!"
Inside I was screaming... " It's a black metallic beeyatch! But just has a hue of that blue u speak of cuz it's dead smack in the light!' ![]() |

Mrs. feels it's Blue, which I can't say I 100% disagree with. It seems a stretch to say it is truly black. If it has to be in low light to be black, well, wouldn't every other color be black also if the light is low enough?
![]() The worst part? I got black cloth interior, so now Mrs. ribs me because black and blue don't go together. ![]() |

I just picked up mine on Sat, and there is quite a bit of dark blue tinge to it, however in our hearts we do know it is black. We should all stick together on this one.

LMAO because the color is actually NOT black. It really isnt black. Just because its called black (because theres no standard name for that color) doesnt make it black. Jerez Black is just the name of the color. The color black does not look blue in sunlight, its still black.
I love Jerez Black, I think its a fantastic color. But dont get your panties in a bunch cuz someone calls your dark blue under sunlight car dark blue

The name comes from the F1 track in Spain of the same name. The town of Jerez was named for sherry which originated there. The color does look a bit like a deep red wine. I happen to like the way it looks blue in some lights. I think BMW just thought Jerez Black sounded better than Jerez Blue. That and the fact they offer it in two other blues.

i think the reason its "Jerez Black" is the base pigment is in fact black....there is a blue metallic flake in the paint that tints the paint blue...
honda has/had (not sure if it still exists) a colour called nighthawk black which was the same, but with less blue flake in the paint, so it was more of a pure black than jerez. |
