Best Price on 2010 M3? What would you do?

I went into the local dealership and they had an interlagos blue M3, fully loaded 2010 with DCT and 19 inch wheels. MSRP was 74k and they said the best they would do was 71,500. This seriously cannot be the best price available on a new M3? I was also looking at the 2010 CTS-V and am able to get a car that has an MSRP of 69,500 for about 64k out the door. I really like both cars, but I know there has to be better deals for the M3, are there incentives or anything like that? Thanks for the help

Look up the invoice pricing guides here on the boards and add up all the options on the car. Then you'll see how low they can go.

"Sorry, that's the lowest I can go" is the oldest line. If they don't give you the car at or close to invoice, walk. Most of us are getting 2011's at or $500 over invoice. Don't get suckered on an older car.

There are holdbacks across the line and incentives on certain cars, dude. Invoice is not the bottom line.

Thanks for the help so far guys! Obviously this is not the right price then hah. Is there a certain dealer that everyone kind of goes to? If you go into the dealer knowing the discounts and all of that then they cant try any BS. What are you guys telling them that are getting them for invoice and under invoice on 2010 or even 2011?

"So, I was able to sit down with our sales rep and finance head at Classic BMW in Plano, TX.

Here's what I worked out:

71.5k MSRP E90 M3, Fully loaded minus Rear Parking Sensor and Shades.

3.5k off MSRP.
2.5k instant BMW credit.
----------------
6k Total off sticker, which we can guestimate to be at/or $500 above invoice.
For this dealer, which ranked Top 12 in the country, we were more than pleased with the offer.

They would not go ANY lower after playing hard ball for a good 3 hours. Thought there was at least another $500 we could have knocked off, but this didn't make a big dif. in payment.
We are already getting a prime rate due to flawless credit, so that was non-negotiable.

We chose a 10k, 36mo. lease to help get the payment to ~950/mo.

Now, about the 120-day deal, I found out much more information!
At work now but will definitely explain everything when I'm home.

Stay tuned.

As of April 6th I will be the proud owner of a 2010 E90 Jet Black/Black M3.

I am being offered 71,500 from an MSRP of 73955. I think they would take 70,500. Then I tell them about the 2500 off (what is the 2500 off for? Do they have to represent this 2500 off?) and the price is about 1000 or so under invoice. Is that a good deal for a coupe? What do I say to get the 2500 off? Thanks

The $2500 off is the "spring drive" sales event. Good luck with the negotiations.

Or if you are military, the price would be even lower. PM me if that is the case.

Correct. It's a Spring Sales event promo only.
It was very difficult to get below the 3.5k loyalty discount.

More events have unfolded beyond our control, and we have had to switch dealers yet AGAIN.

Honestly, I do believe you should walk if you're not getting a good deal on these cars. But where do you go when all of your options are expired?

Seriously, I've been to every BMW dealer in Dallas, TX and have gotten screwed over multiple times!! Whether it be service, trade-in value, having BMW trying to sell me a damaged car, etc. It's getting out of hand.

The problem is I LOVE these cars. So, at some point, something's gotta give.

This experience has really, really gone downhill.
The last thing I want to do is end up going with a different brand.

What to do, what to do.

OP, you are getting a shitty deal. Definitely look elsewhere.
You're only getting the 2.5k off through BMW financial. They are giving you nothing additional which is utter BS.

Also, Drew, how's the CTS-V?
I might have to go that route if my deal doesn't process.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with the car... For an MSRP of 73955 what should I tell them I'd buy it for then? Around 70k? And then tell them I want the 2500 for the spring drive sales event? Thanks

Mortgage? Car financing loan? You must have put down a LOT of money down upfront?

Invoice pricing for that car is around $68,850 (93.1% of MSRP). I would say that you want to be around $500 over invoice this late in the game. So, you want to hit around ~$69.5k.

So, you get $2500 for the spring sales event (which brings you to $71.5k), then I'd ask for at least $2k off the car.

Hopefully that makes sense.

I also found out how to calculate invoice after the deal on my car was done. It looks like I made out pretty well on my deal...if it goes through =/

List your exact options so we can get the exact invoice price of the car. I am not sure if your dealer is using the pre-2010/1/1 pricing or post-2010/1/1. What is the base MSRP of the car w/o options?

After finding out the exact invoice price, add $500-$1500 for dealer profit (heck maybe no dealer profit because I've seen someone posting below invoice deal for a 2010). This is the negotiated price. The $2,500 spring credit is independent to this negotiated price, so take another $2,500 off of that. If you were able to negotiate to $500 over invoice, you'd be able to get the car for $2000 off invoice with the spring credit. Final price should be ~$66-67k.

I just sent them an email saying I would do $70,000 - $2500 spring drive event. I'm waiting for their response and will post it here Figured I'd offer a little low already knowing they weren't going to accept.

I agree with this quote

And good news, my deal went through!!!

Picking the car up tomorrow.
I'm currently living out of state but moving back in July. I will be flying home to Dallas to visit family and drive the car! Will post pics then.

Let us know what they come back with.
If they refuse any discount off the MSRP beyond the $2500 credit, I would start looking for the car at another dealer (if possible). See if you can get a lower quote somewhere else and have the dealer match it.

I ended up getting about $500 under invoice out the door, but i'll be the first to tell you it wasn't easy. It took 2 dealers and about 2-3 weeks time.

Send an email asking for invoice - $2500 spring credit, one dealer I spoke with was willing to negotiate $3000 off invoice in combination w/ the spring drive credit. Don't settle for less
